Actually, I think it makes perfect sense. Whether I have the keyboard attached or not, my hands are always by the sides of the screen. Moving my hand to the center/bottom of the screen is way out of the way compared to the side.

I think the side is probably okay, more natural for your hand to be there when holding in landscape

Hm true. I can see the logic behind it, never really thought about it that way. Seems quite obvious now.

Fanless?! holy shit

Also did I see the new pen has two buttons in the product reveal?

I'd mostly use it in vertical mode. I want a keyboard to use in that orientation too

LOFL at the drop. I'm going to get one of these, but drop it on to a tile surface please. An Ipad could weather a fall onto carpet as well.

always thought these tablets were cool, love that size on the new one...but the price on their tablets have just been outrageous to me

I would like a tablet that could stream some steam games though ..ive seen some people do it

As great as this tablet is as an engineering feat, it's not going to replace MBA's and other high end laptops as long as it cant provide as good a typing experience as them on the go.

so he spent about half an hour talking about the laptops in the crowd and how tablets never replaced the laptop and so on. How exactly does this change things? the keyboard is still a flimsy cover so you still can't use it on your lap, right?

The problem was not with the the keyboard cover (the type cover is actually very good) but with the kickstand

thats what I don't fully understand. Unless your work particularly benefits from pen input or touch - so data capture or photoshop etc, then why wouldn't a MBA be more useful? You have similar screen size, full keyboard, protection from the clamshell design, not much heavier. Assuming most people would add something like the type cover too.
