So if I go and buy this tomorrow at my local bestbuy it should include a PS4 voucher?

So, 4J still hasn't said anything, yet they were all over the Xbox announcement, which came even later than now, last night. Could MS have a marketing deal in place?

Any way to share your creations with others? Did they ever have a way of doing so on the 360 version.

I would assume much like PC minecraft you could simply send your console minecraft save files to other people who could load it onto their consoles and enjoy your creations?

Someone correct me if I'm incorrect

Edit: Or online MP works too lol

If you play with other people it can be fun. "surviving" isn't the challenge, the challenge is your patience grinding (digging) for better materials. Read two paragraphs on surviving survival mode and you're safe for as many days and nights as you like. This is most definitely not "Don't Starve".

Thank you, I enjoy Dont Starve, so I'll respectfully skip Minecraft.

Enjoy it GAF :)

So what's stopping people from renting the ps3 version from redbox, creating a save, and then getting the ps4 version for $5?

Seems like a pretty small dev shop, probably just don't have the people to babysit the Twittersphere 24/7, PS4 is still getting it a day early in the states, so couldn't have been too much of a marketing deal. :)

According to the PlayStation Blog, physical disk owners require the code that comes with the PS3 game in order to get the PS4 version for $5. Redbox doesn't include that stuff.

this will be my first experience with Minecraft. i literally know nothing about it. Is there an online component? can i play with my friend from the beginning?

Eh, i wanted it during the launch window. Now idgaf, i bought a good pc, mods or gtfo.
Way more of my real friends and family are going to get console versions. And remote play is big with native dpad support. Vita version ultimate portability as well.

Yeah but what about the vita version? If you have the physical ps3 copy you are supposed to get the vita version entitlement. But you can't stick a ps3 disc in a vita to check if you actually have the disc...
Not so sure. Maybe they aee saving that bit of news when that version is ready. This is also why I fo digital on most "smaller" games available on PSN.

How stripped down is this compared to the PC version, or are they basically the same?

They're basically the same, except no mod support, it's behind in updates, and world sizes are limited. You can't choose skins or texture packs unless you buy the DLC packs.

From what 4J has said, all you have had to do is go online with the PS3/360 version at least once and from there you can download the PS4/Xbox One version for $4.99.

If this is the case, the Gamefly version should have a code because they only rent out the disc and when you buy used, they give you the case+ any dlc/paper work with it.

Nows a good time to ask, I played it on 360 for like 3 hours, how do you play survival?

I get attacked by monsters so I usually dig a hole and hide in it but they still get me

(yes this is a real post)

You build a house [could just be a hole in a mountain that you close with dirt blocks] and stay in their for the night

At least until you're ready to fight monsters off. Although generally it's better to sleep nights away with a bed and only work in the daytime

Build a house out of wood for the first night. You can either hang out until daytime or find wool to make a bed and sleep through it. Make sure there are 2-3 light sources in the house. Door optional.

If I bought a used copy tomorrow and made a save file would I be able to upgrade to the PS4 version?

Or does the save have to be one from before today?

Anyone clarify?

I have no plan to install the PS3 version, but I just did this to get PS4 + Vita for $25, instead of $40. Score!

Yeah that's what I was getting at. Still ridiculous that they didn't think to allow it the other way where you buy the PS4 version and then let you spend another $5 for the Vita version, especially since the PS4 version is coming first.

Hm. Wierd. So on XBOX ONE you just Need the disc, you can rent it, buy it used or borrow it and play it once online with your XBOX 360:

◾If you’ve bought Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition from Xbox Live Marketplace, or played online with the disc version, you will be able to upgrade to Xbox One Edition for $4.99.

But on PS4 you Need a voucher? Why Sony? :(
So people who... Actually own it get the benefit? :

The Vita version isn't even out yet.

That's what I just said. Read what you quoted again.

I'm saying they should let people buy the PS4 version and still allow them to upgrade to add the PSV and PS3 (since those two are irrevocably tied together) but it seems that Sony is not letting that method of upgrade happen.

If someone owns a PS4 and Vita only and doesn't know to buy the PS3 version BEFORE buying the PS4 version, they have to pay full price for the Vita version. That's crap.

Even though the Vita version specifically is not out, you can still buy it since the PS3 and Vita versions are full Crossbuy so it's essentially the same exact single purchase.
