Mizuguchi: New Interview on Kikizo

Lengthy new interview. Talks about cool shit both new and old.

Mentiones Lumines 2 and plans to work with SEGA - hooray!
(Let him make Rez 2? Nah...) :)

I haven't even touched it and I know its going to be a good read. Kikizo's gotten some great stuff from the man in the past.

Thanks for posting this KyotoMecca.

Kikizo: Would you have liked to continue your career at Sega?
Mizuguchi: I haven't thought of that really, but I could be working with them, in the future.

Wow. That's pretty exciting.

Actually we have a massive backlog of interviews to publish right now so we're just putting them up according to priority. Yuzo Koshiro is probably gonna be next.

there's an xbox in the photo of Q entertainment.

edit: and a gamecube. I wonder do they play alot of games at the office? :)

edit edit: Wow they have an Aibo and a virtual boy too. What a great place to work!

Don't get me wrong, if I were female I'd want to have Mizuguchi's babies, but I wish he'd shut up with all the "hi-def" comments. At least until he can explain to us layman folk how exactly going "hi-def" is going to change gaming like he explained the advent of 3D for racing games, the improved quality of music for music games, etc. Whenever he says "hi-def" my stomach drops and I want to hold him in my arms and plead with him to give back whatever Microsoft handed over which was so "persuasive". :(

Mizuguchi: The people at Microsoft were very persuasive

Fishie is happy his works are liked, even if people most of the time dont realise its his.

This particular interview came to be thanks to him, Reno and Kyottomecca

dood - i go to the loo, i come back, and my fiancee is all over "your man" WTF?!?

I like Rez and all that, but there is a line!

It has to be said, although IGN (Incredibly Gay News) gets most of the exclusives, when compared directly Adam and Alex's work, it always fails.

Also, I conducted the Mizuguchi interview from two GDC's ago. It was good. But this one sounds better (damn you Fishie). Did he talk about his B********** inspired game to you?

Wow amazing interview. I really liked his comparison of Japanese and Western games. I’ve always thought the exact same thing.

Sorry this is off topic, but last August I saw the best audio-visual, synaesthasia exhibit at the National Gallery for Contemporary Art in DC. Not only did it have lots of Kandinsky’s and other painting, but it had an extensive “visualisation” exhibits; including pre-WW2 musical-cartoons, a giant screen with very bright foot by foot and fluorescent panels that slowly changed colour to the flow of the sound among many others. The most impressive thing they had was a large room that had sparkling colourful lights, spinning as if in a tornado, projected on all the walls. Playing was a voluminous whirling sound that heightened the feeling of being in a vortex. It felt like I was in the Farplane in FFX.

Well, the Yuzo Koshiro interview is nowlive, but I think I've exhausted my GAF plugging goodwill for one week (!), so if anyone wants to mention this, please feel free. :D
Kikizo: Is there any particular song you've composed that you are especially proud of?

Koshiro: I'm very happy with all of my work on Wangan Midnight, but I like the music in Wangan Midnight Maximum Tune 2 the most. I've learned more and more about composing trance-style music throughout my work with these games, so I am very proud of the progress I have made. I can't really choose a specific track, though. I love them all! [laughs]! I guess there are two songs I really like. They were the first time I wrote English lyrics.

Awesome Trance/Techno work. I replaced all the music files in Burnout Legends for PSP with the Wangan Midnight Maximum Tune Soundtracks.
