I want to try a fantasy baseball thingie this year. What's a fun/easy one to join?

Yahoo runs free leagues. They offer public and private. Public leagues are just 12 random players put into a league. These leagues tend to be pretty easy, and the settings are simple. Downside is that several of the teams will be ignored by their owners, trade activity is usually non-existent, and you have to play by the default settings.

Private leagues are generally what groups of friends play in, or people who want to play something different from traditional fantasy baseball. Whoever sets up the league is the commish, and can customize the various settings/rules to make for a different game. These leagues are more competitive, and may also be more complicated if the settings are changed. However, it's a lot more fun to talk shit with people you know, and people who sign up for private leagues aren't likely to let their team go dead.

You kind of forced my hand here, because I was going to wait 2 weeks or so to create a thread.....but we are planning on having a GA pay league, most likely at yahoo.....simply because it's free and we can give the winner(s) 100% of the entry fees. Personally, I play at ESPN for fun. The competition is great, and I love the site, but yahoo works fine, and if everything goes well we'll have a 10/12 man league with a (subject to change) $20 entry fee. Of course that might not be the best place to start, but hey, ESPN's 30 with no cash prizes. This might not be the best time to bring it up, but I saw the thread sitting here and I couldn't resist.

Yeah, I'm probably gonna create a just for fun yahoo league too, because a couple of regular GAF OT fantasy baseballers don't want to pony up, and I can never have TOO MANY leagues. So, who wants in on a fun yahoo league? Do you want head to head or rotisserie? Speak up an let me know, but if you sign up for the league for FUCKS SAKES SHOW UP FOR THE DRAFT.

i am in for any and all free leagues, and of course the pay league, where ever we end up having that. i still say yahoo is the best, and have someone hold the purse, but i'll play anywhere
