Mobile Suit Gundam Hathaway trailer released. Man this movie looks expensive.

It looks like that same generic pseudo-CGI all the Netflix animes are using. Which is to say it's not expensive at all and looks pretty good.

Was going to say this, except not the "looks pretty good" part. The only anime I've liked this CGI look in is Land of the Lustrous. This looks like Ajin, Baki, Knights of Sidonia, etc. Something is off with the movements that creates an "uncanny valley"-type effect for me.

The best conclusion the UC should have gotten. Fuck Unicorn and NT, fan fiction trash. Not hot about the CG Mobile Suits but we'll see.

The character art and animation are good but the Gundam bits don't impress with that CG.

It works pretty well with Dorhedoro, though.

I'm liking the characters designs more. It definitely early Mobile Suit Gundam vibes to it. Better than a lot of the generic character designs we get in anime nowadays.

Supposedly it's one of the most tragic U.C. story... so hope it delivers the emotional punch.
The PV indeed looks like somewhat more of an extension from Unicorn style with CG heavy animation - which I guess is the trend & can't really be avoided.
As a long time U.C. gundam fan - I'm looking forward to a new chapter. :)

Character art and animation looks great.

But the gundams seems to be the same basic CG you get in most mecha shows these days.

Tragic is right. Poor Bright. He doesn't deserve to get saddled with a whiny kid like Hathaway.
In my head the events of SRW V is how Hathaway's Flash should have played out with the Full Metal Panic! crew making a proper man out of Hathaway.

It's telling that the best looking scenes are always the ones that look hand drawn. The less it looks like CGI. the better.

So basically, you have to deal with the CGI, not enjoy it's look. It will always look worse than good hand drawn animation.

One of the reasons i stopped watching anime back in the early '00s.

Character art reminds me of Genocidal Organ movie by project Itoh. I wonder if some of the staff that worked on that is on this now.

It is animated like recent AoT: 2D hand-drawn people, 3D Titans/Mobile suits. All 2D is clearly better.
