Mods / Admins - Can we have a stickied thread on what is acceptable... during E3???

With the bombs going off left and right with the DoA 4 pics and most likely more stuff to leak today/ tonight, can we make sure that everyone isn't a social retard when it comes to posting comments and knows what's within the boundries of maintaining a sane board?

Thanks.

The short of it, really, is don't act like a moron. There's going to be that one person that jokingly posts "XBOX 360 MORE LIKE XBOX 1.5 AM I RITE?" in every thread. That person will not make it through E3.

Try to actually further conversation instead of repeating the same thing everyone's been posting for two pages.

Besides the ToS, as always there will be some redundant threads and wild trolls. We'll try to designate single threads for each major discussion point, let people have their fun with excitement and such as much as we can, but try not to go overboard (all caps thread titles etc.) or get too vitriolic with your bashing of the xbox 270.

Of course, most/all bans from this point on will be until after E3 is concluded (and possibly further), so play nice.

Things are already ass crazy palookaville wild up in this bitch. I don't know what everybody is worrying about "for e3" stuff tho. This place is going down harder than a liquored up sorostitute on Rush week.

Sounds good Evil, just wanted to make sure we kept things civil. :)

Will this place be able to function through E3? Is that what the server move was for or something

We're around 1200 users right now and everything's 100% smooth, where prior to the server switch GAF would barely be moving at that number. So yeah, it was important to get the new server in and running at around he start of this month. We'll see how things go when we come closer to the 2k mark ;b

Hmmm, I didn't notice that but why is there a sudden surge in the number of users on GAF?

Cool.. didn't realise the number of users...
if things got really bad the guests could always be locked out I guess. I'm sure you guys have other solutions besides.

Good to know I'll be able to check the board a lot as well as hitting IRC.

1.5/2 * 360 = 270....oh

It's the guests. GAF is one of the better places to get your gaming news, you know. Maybe the forum should be members-only during E3, just in case. :P

Last year during E3, some of the forum functions were removed to increase performance (I'm assuming that's the reason). Any plans to do the same? I'm asking because it would be helpful if the Search function was still in place to perhaps reduce some redundant threads.

I vote for mandatory thumbnails. For the sake of page loading and 56kers (eventhough they're living in the dark ages) and so Imageshack doesn't fucking block this site. Let's use some goddamn common sense. That DOA4 thread had people reposting the same pics full-size. It's not a problem for me, but a 720p pics if BIG. Again, let's use some common sense, especially since this forum will be flakey for the next few weeks. PEACE.

I just wanted to stress this. If you've got nothing good to say just stay the hell away. We're all chomping at the bit for more bans, it'll ease up potential stress on the server. :p

Are you guys planning on closing the forum to all non-members?

No.

Also, any genius who wants to post false news will be banned for some obscene amount of time. And if I see you jackholes posting on the public terminals, I will smack you upside the head for not using a secure connection.

Depends if we hit load probs. Would rather not, but keeping the forum alive comes first. New rig's pretty fast, tho, so I wouldn't worry too much.

Can we except radical mods lashing out at users just because they're in a bad mood? I would hate to be the guy in a Sony E3 thread who just lightly mentions something Nintendo-related (for comparison sake) only to have some "naughty bloke" ban me.

I would like to profit to thank all the mods for their effort in keeping this place reasonably sane. I won´t be here to see it, but from the previous days, I can view how it can be at E3.

Figures you would ask this as you just got off a ban. :lol

Just like posters use their discretion to post what they think is appropriate and inappropriate, mods will use their discretion to decide the same thing. We're all adults here and it should be clear what is and is not acceptable in certain threads. An increasing number of posters of any given faction are toeing the line a little too finely, and that same increasing number will likely be taken to task. Just don't post anything inflammatory or blatant baiting of the other group and you will be fine.

I plan on being in a shitty mood for all of next week. I'll be watching you closely. Toodles!

(Well, OK, just kidding, wheeeee!)

I ask this precisely in regard to my recent ban. Just take a look at the reason for it. I can't seem to make any sense myself for the justification. I shouldn't live in fear of stating either a strong opinion, or a sardonic comment now and again. Like you said, we're all adults. Do we ban a regular member for making an acceptable and within-the-boundaries reply? At least let's be informed of why a ban is necessary because there is a distinct different between a colorful comment and a troll.

What I'm wondering is whether they'll make it to E3. I hope the answer is no.
