Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate - Demo out [Updated: FAQ and Help]

This will suck a lot if the entire game plays this way.

It's only G Rank. In which case, that's fine.

Honestly, this is not bad news. I don't always have the time to play long drawn out monster battles with multiple people.

Tried out the light gunner last night and was confused by how it was supposed to work. I figured out how to aim and fire (held R and fired with A) but I quickly ran out of bullets without even killing the neutral enemies in the rabbit stage.

Whenever they were hit they seemed to be stunned but I couldn't kill them and when I ran out of ammo I couldn't figure out what I was supposed to do from there.

It's probably an obvious thing but I'd appreciate some pointers :)

Hold L and you can change your ammo with X and B, I believe.

So the assumption is if you have no ammo left you've effectively failed the mission?

You will always have an endless supply of Normal Shot Lv 1 ammo, so you can technically never be "out."

That said, Normal lv 1 is pretty pitiful for damage so you likely wouldn't be using it to take on boss monsters, you're more likely to go through several different ammo types in a mission.

Cheers. Will have to have another try tonight.

Just tried the demo on my new 3DS XL , and it was surprisingly great for the snow-rabbit with dual swords. Then I tried the Gyarados-alike with a gun lance (first time using it) and wow, it's just so much harder to play when there's that big of a need to control the camera. On land, I could make do with the virtual d-pad and had few complaints for what it was, but underwater was just unbearably awkward.

Underwater fighting is something else. It takes a bit to get used to and the 3DS version more so. Thats where the target feature comes in handy and probably one of the reasons why they included underwater fighting in the 3DS version.

Do you have any tips? I just gave up 10 seconds into the fight.

In a case like this, you could either use the CPP, which will be useable in the retail version, or adjust to the controls focusing the camera on your target with the target lock. The CPP was made originally for MH3G, so pick that up if you can.

Use the target lock camera all the time and you'll never need to manually adjust the camera underwater, just using it to move.

Many monsters go down in 5 minutes in FU as well, with four people going ham. We've seen a lot of 4 player MH3G videos before, don't know why one new video gets you guys worried. It's not as easy as MHP3.

Yeah, I think you're right. A lot of monsters go down in sub 8 minutes when you've got end game stuff.

It should take that long, really.

The only thing that significantly helps you out is putting him to sleep and deploying both barrel bombs, since the damage doubles (or triples?). Other than that, just spam charge shots up close and arc shots when he's trapped/tired/etc. I can't do much better than 15 minutes, although the demo is the first time I've used the bow, too.
