More info on the Dualscreen support on the PS3

On the press-conference which i sit and see right now, the technical director said
that "if you have 2 hdtvs you can play on a 32:9 aspect ratio"...

but he also said, that you can look at a >PC-monitor<, and have data from the soccer
game you play on the mainscreen!.

It can be cool for car-simulations. dashboard on the pcmonitor, and out thruy the window
on the oterh screen :)
since i guess everyone here has a pc-monitor?

Two screens!? How on earth did they come up with that?

Inventive buggers, them Sony..

:lol

Hey, even though VERY few people are going to use this I like the fact that they're giving us SO many options. Wi-Fi built-in makes me VERY happy, but it might not be a big deal for others. Sony's got all the bases covered, from video/audiophiles to mr. joe six pack.

My computer's LCD screen (DVI) is conveniently located right next to my HDTV (HDMI). Too bad no games will actually make use of this obscure feature.

Although imagine games like Killzone having two player co-op--each player with their own screen on the same machine.

vv Well, I have two HDTVs in the same house...

What kinda cable would I need to use my PC monitor (DVI) with the PS3? I wish they had just included a DVI port to begin with...as not everyone has a Hi-Def TV, but everyone has a PC monitor.

Pedigree, HDMI is DVI, but combined with digital audio. You can buy HDMI<->DVI adapters online for $20-30. You probably wont be able to watch BluRay movies on your monitor, unless it supports HDCP (which isn't likely).

as long as this doesn't limit the graphics when only one screen is used (90% of the time), then I don't care.

I'm unclear on this, will all games split in half across both the screens, or will individual developers decide whether to use it or not, and if they do, be able to output totally different views to each screen?

I'd bet my money NO games will split across to screens at launch. I can see GT5 doing it, since GT4 lets you do it with multiple PS2s.

Chances are, the only game that will ever support this feature is Gran Tourismo. When the inevitable PS3 hardware revision comes, the 2nd HDMI port will be one of the first things to go.

LOL.

no developer will program for such an absurd scenario.

Its a decent idea, for the richest of the hardcode, but i doubt most devs will take the time to implement it.

Might spawn some nice niche games (new Tekki anyone?)

PS2 CAN NETWORK OVER FIREWIRE ALSO!!!!!

:P

seriously, it's inclusion is cool (like firewire) but I doubt it will ever be used.
