PGC: What is the process of connecting to the Nintendo Wi-Fi network with a Nintendo DS and the USB Connector?

MS: First, you need to install the software that comes with the USB Connector in your computer. ...
PGC: Can the USB Connector work with other 802.11b/g devices?

MS: Please remember that the USB Connector is under Nintendo brand. Therefore, I can't really make a comment on their branded product. Please ask Nintendo this question as well to make sure.
PGC: Is the range of the USB connector comparable to normal wireless routers?

MS: Yes, it is.

Oh, what a fancy list with all the words and bullet points. All it says to me is "no online battle mode". Hopefully, the online racing will be good enough to soften the blow.

sounds like they are finally going all out :D

Too bad about online battle mode, but otherwise this seems to be a different Nintendo than the one that slapped together the MKDD lan code. Even donwload play seems very feature rich, and who wouldn't want to race as SHyGuy!

It still really licks ballsack that there's no Wi-Fi battle mode. That's the multiplayer mode that sees the most time when I'm playing a MK game with friends.

I suppose whenever the first Online Enabled game comes out, since the software provides the online not the hardware there really is no "Swtich" to turn it on.

being that I bought my ds in New Zealand, there is going to be no trouble using this for online in Europe is there? normally we get the same stuff but you know, the world likes to screw me sometimes.

Its should'nt but im buying the Aussie version just in case. Also if you buy the US version you may not be able to use the UK stats table etc.

PGC: How will the USB Connector (and Nintendo DS) work under WEP and/or WPA security? What about on a PC connected to a wired router?

MS: I believe they both work under WEP, but please ask Nintendo about this to double check. This is their decision not ours.

Wasn't this being asked in another thread?

MS: Yes, it is.

WOAH WOAH WOAH wait. The dongle is wireless? I guess I'm a complete dumbass then. I was under the impression that the dongle was a *cable* that physically connected your NDS to your PC via USB.

I'm a moron I guess, 'cos even when I saw the dongle, and even though it's been called a dongle I still thought of it as a cable. A cable, I thought, would be stupid for a portable so I was looking into investing in a WiFi Router when I went to DSL. However, now that I'm looking at the picture of the dongle, realizing that a "dongle" is a one-ended connection to the PC that hangs from it and not a link cable between the NDS & PC...and now that I'm realizing that I don't have to spend $100+ on a WiFi Router let alone deal with WEP/wireless security codes and such (stuff I know little to nothing about) I'm like...semi-orgasmic. This is better than I even thought!

Will this dongle work for communicating wirelessly to the Revolution too? I mean it uses WiFi as well so why not. In which case, that cheap $30 dongle is really...AWESOME!!!

Please, tell me I'm not wrong...can I connect wirelessly with this magical dongle without having to buy a WiFi router???

Meh. Online battle mode would probably end up with a lot of lame asses taking cheap shots over and over. I agree it should be an options, but I won't miss it TOO much.

How come it took me this long to realize? Are you calling me stupid? Why are my pants wet? How come people actually complain about this magical mystical dongle of love? Do you know the muffin man?

I think the icon is pretty much like the fabric design in Animal Crossing. You can pretty much draw whatever you want.

I'm betting a lot of people will put in a Sonic icon. Idiots.

When is Nintendo Wi-Fi launched? When Mario Kart DS comes out?

I think in the US it launches Nov 14, same day Mario Kart DS comes out.

Mine will be Simple....
