I kinda feel bad about asking for help on this question as I'm having problems with the algebra part of it, not the calc.
OK, I have a bounded area of x = 0, x = 10, y = .15x^2, y = -x+10. What I want to do is find the area in the "bow-tie" section of said graph. I know how to do the area part, it's actually the one of the first things so far that came easily to me. The problem is that to find the area I need to know the intervals, which means I need to find out at what point .15x^2 is equal to -x+10 OR when .15x^2+x-10 = 0. I've tried a few different tricks to factoring but I can't seem to get it to work.
many thanks in advance.
