I was wondering about that guy lately, I thought his pilgrimage, or whatever you call it, would've been over by now, it's been over a year hasn't it?

Yeah, is he tormenting poor indigent people in the 3rd world still?

"Here, read the Book of Mormon!"

"No, I really just need some food and maybe some medical attention. Also, perhaps if your country would stop killing all of our popularly elected socialist leaders-"

"No! You read the Book of Mormon or you get nothing! NOTHING!"

Mormon Church Apostle Russell M. Nelson explained the real translation process:

“The details of this miraculous method of translation are still not fully known. Yet we do have a few precious insights. [Oliver Cowdery's brother-in-law] David Whitmer wrote:”

‘Joseph Smith would put the seer stone into a hat, and put his face in the hat, drawing it closely around his face to exclude the light; and in the darkness the spiritual light would shine. A piece of something resembling parchment would appear, and on that appeared the writing. One character at a time would appear, and under it was the interpretation in English. Brother Joseph would read off the English to Oliver Cowdery, who was his principal scribe, and when it was written down and repeated to Brother Joseph to see if it was correct, then it would disappear, and another character with the interpretation would appear. Thus the Book of Mormon was translated by the gift and power of God, and not by any power of man.’ (David Whitmer, An Address to All Believers in Christ, 1887, p. 12.)”

It's kind of sad how accurate South Park is sometimes...

Wow, as I've read into the site I got this transcript from (www.i4m.com) apparently the Mormon Church has an official renouncement against oral sex amongst a married couple. WHAT? Well, there goes any chance of me ever being a Mormon...

I think mission trips can take longer than a year sometimes.

That is probably my favorite episode of South Park for all time. :lol

It takes a few liberties here and there, but for the most part, it's actually a fairly accurate, albeit succinct, summary of the birth of Mormonism.

That link doesn't seem to go to a live site, just a placeholder page. Do you have another one?

AlteredBeast!!! WISE FROM YO GWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAVE!

Btw, I think missions last 2 years or something. I'll have to ask. I'm surrounded by Mormons here in Salt Lake.

Yes I think it is two years. A co-worker of mine was stressing out because her son was going on his mission about the same time this guy was leaving. I either heard the two years from here or from my co-worker.

My buddy did his Mormon tour of duty in Utah of all places. There, old women shower you in cookies as you visit. Here, rednecks swerve towards any guy on a bike with a white dress shirt. 10 points!

I always mistakenly read the word "Mormon" as "Moron." I'm not sure if it's the word itself or the people that make me do this however.

Missions last two years guys.
And do you really think that getting information about any religious beliefs system from a cartoon is reliable?
Come on.

So it being a cartoon instantly renders its views illegitimate? I think people too often mistake animation for a genre, and not a style of presentation.

Certainly the main point of South Park is to be comedic and skewed in the opinion of the show's creators, but alot of the points brought up were based on textual Mormon history. They just gave their opinion on it.

For an even more damning and comical look at the history of the Mormon Church, check out
the biography of Joseph Smith.

I'm really dissapointed that South Park didn't cover the incident when Bringam Young spoke in tounges. Good times.
