Mouse, the answer to the question, "What if Cuphead was in black-and-white and a first-person shooter?" has got a new official name: Mouse: P.I. For Hire. To celebrate the new name ahead of Gamescom 2024, Fumi Games and Playside have released this new gameplay trailer.

About This Game

MOUSE, a gritty and noir-fueled FPS shooter that draws inspiration from classic cartoons of the 1930s.

MOUSE boasts a unique visual style inspired by the charm of 1930s rubber hose animation, transporting players to a nostalgic era of early cartoons. Assume the role of a private detective navigating a noir city teeming with gangs, mobs, and characters from the dark side. Unravel a quest for justice in a noir city mired in chaos, corruption, and vibrant energy, utilizing a diverse arsenal of weapons, power-ups, and explosives to thwart the takeover by corrupt politicians. The game's playful weaponry and distinctive health display, coupled with enemies behaving like cartoon characters, add a lighthearted twist to traditional FPS gameplay.

Disney finally lost copyright to Steamboat Willy character which is why this game can be made.

Looks awesome. I love film noir, and anthropomorphic mice; Mrs Frisby, Great Mouse Detective, The Rescuers, Redwall, Jack and Gus Gus from Cinderella, Moss Book, etc.

Hope this makes its way to PS5.

Not a game I'd enjoy but I absolutely adore the style and work that has gone into the animation etc. Hats off.

OMG STOP! WE NEED TO KEEP POLITCS OUT OF GAMING! WTF! I was out here looking to buy a game, not a lecture.

We play games to escape from reality, yet this game is in the 1930s, a time period that can be referenced, WTF!!!!! /s

FGS Live From gamescom latam reveals an exclusive look at the 'Experimental Weapons' in the highly anticipated MOUSE: P.I. For Hire. The COOL-D Freeze Gun lets you turn foes into giant ice pops, the CLEAN-D Turpentine Gun fires toxic goop which literally melts your enemies, and the MIND-D Conscious Gun fires hypnotic waves to control the competition. In this developer interview, Fumi Games talks about their new game where you play as private investigator 'Jack Pepper', battling through a noir-inspired city teeming with gangs, mobs and crooks. MOUSE: P.I. For Hire is coming to Steam, PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo Switch later in 2025.

After watching Mouse: P.I. for Hire being played in front of me, we're even more impressed by this hand-drawn, Steamboat Willy-era black-and-white animated first-person shooter. IGN's Ryan McCaffrey tells you about the demo he saw.

Fully handcrafted art is about the only thing Mouse: P.I. for Hire has got in common with Cuphead. Mouse is its own, equally gorgeous game, and after getting a look at a hands-off demo of the first-person shooter, I'm just as interested in it as I was when I first saw Cuphead. Which is to say, I'm very interested.

Yup. I don;t know why I did this, but from January 9th 2024 and November 2024, I completely remade the entire Steamboat Willie using open source software. No Joke. I can re-render this at 4k. But have not yet.

I'm interested in this but I think it lacks polish. Some of the non-cartoon assets are weirdly low-poly. I'm also on the fence about the enemy characters looking like cardboard cutouts. Curious to see how the final game looks.
