Movie scenes with great sound design?

For me it was this. The lack of music makes the seismic bomb sound even crazier, I think jumped a little at the theater lol.

The recent Dune movie also had some great sound design.

Black hawk down in surround sound is still the pinnacle for me. Puts you right in the action.

Good call. Loved that in the cinema! Really cant wait for the second part.

I always thought a certain scene from Sucker Punch had good sound design, from the scraping of weapons on the floor to the kicking in of Bjork. It's utterly cheesy but I damn well love it. Emily Brownings easy on the eye too..

Interstellar sound design caused damage to my internal (church) organs. My lawsuit against Chris Nolamb and Hands Simmer is still ongoing.

Dark Knight Rises scene where Batman first comes back where all Gotham police are involved and in chase. Great music, effects, scene is my favorite to crank.

Also, all of Tron Legacy, but the light cycle scene.... chef's kiss

Mr. Nolan's films can be a bit over the top when it comes to audio, but I don't mind it. Both of the movies Heat and Master and Commander give so much body to the sound of firearms and explosives. I guess the sound is a bit unrealistic, but I like when gunfire (or cannon fire) is pleasing to the ear.

I love those 80s/90s movies that matched the thick sound of gunfire perfectly with messy squibs (Robocop and Total Recall come to mind).

Jurassic park (original) at 11pm on my dads surround system. I had to look behind the sofa me as I swear there was a dino behind me lol.

Recently I really liked Sound of Metal as the plot of the movie resolve around Deafness.
Otherwise I would say Dunkirk, Seeing it in theatre was nerve-wracking, Richard King is really , really good.

Nolan and Villeneuve are directors that respect sound design.
Maybe that's why they both use Hans Zimmer, I don't know

Daft Punk soundtrack was one of the few good things from the movie.

Master and Commander in surround sound is peak demo the home theater

Heat's heist scene is a close second

Andor, when they used the hammering of a whole town and implemented it into the soundtrack.

Edit:
Also Pirates of the Caribbean, the first fight between Jack and Will, how the music fits perfectly with the clashing swords.
