Ok so I thought Parental Control was pretty friggen stupid but this show has GOT to take the cake.

Premise:

They get someone "cool" who a "nerd" wants to be like so the cool person takes the nerd through his or her life...tries to make the person essentially be them. Dress them up in their type of clothing and then leave.

This perhaps has to be the dumbest thing I've ever seen...there not even people to look up to so far through the commericals I've seen a cheerleader who wants to be a goth, a gay man who wants to be like a flamboient gay man and the nerdiest guy wanting to be a "player".

Jesus.

btw it's on now if you want to see this first hand.

MTV ****ing sucks, and it has for a long time. It was getting bad when even the shows i liked at first (viva la bam, pimp my ride) started to go down the shitter. The last thing i watched on MTV was Wildboyz which was ****ing GOLD but i dont think there are any new episodes of that anymore.

Oh Well, Here to looking forward to Jackass the Movie 2 in september

I caught the beginning of the show a few days ago and was floored by it, in the bad kind of way. You know, everyone accuses advertisers of catering to the low self-esteem of teenagers, but it takes a special kind of asshole to make an entire show that does nothing but acknowledge it and say the only solution is to try and ape someone else.

Shake it's on now...watch it. Those shows look golden next to this. I mean those shows are built off of teenage self esteem but this one is just the worst...

I swear MTV doesn't produce these reality shows seriously anymore. I think they keep topping themselves in absurd premises and go through with it for the car crash effect. As cynical and jaded as I am, I have an EXTREMELY hard time believing anyone can enjoy these shows at face value.

Oh and you guys forgot the highest ranking member on the Unintenional Comedy Scale...Yo Momma.

I've only seen one episode of Parental Control, but I'll be damned is it wasn't some of the most (unintentionally) hilarious stuff on television. I don't remember much about it now, but it involved a chubby girl's boyfriend, some skinny Latin dude, screaming at the tv and getting verbally abused by the girl's dad as they watch their bundle of joy taking archery classes from a potential suiter. Hilarious :lol

what do i care, i only have 2 channels and they are free, haven't had cable tv for as long as i can remember, although all that is about to change because of woman wanting to watch silly soaps and other jerk off crap on tv.........sigh

Some time ago my friends sent in a request to put me on Made, as my goal (at the time) was to learn how to ride a bike. As a child I was injured BADLY in a bike accident and have never had the balls to get back on the ****ing thing.

I still don't know how to ride a bike :/

Actually, you may have a point.

I don't know how people can watch MTV any more. Anybody who watches it for enjoyment should seriously have an intervention.

To be fair, Wonder Showzen is some of the most brilliant stuff to ever be broadcast on TV.

Remember when MTV was about music?

Every 5 years another generation rolls around and says the same thing. I don't think MTV was ever about music even when it it was supposed to be about music. Music videos took the focus off the actual music in the first place and reality shows have the same effect. The music is reduced to stuff they play while the shows go on. That's just the way the world rolls.

MTV can't even do reality shows right. Aside from Real World and The Challenge, everything else they have is so obvioulsy scripted and fake, including this show.

I watched MTV in the early 90s and there really was a lot more music videos back then. Sometimes for hours at a time, with almost no interruptions from VJs, no crappy celebrity guests, audience, etc. Reality shows have a much different effect. The video was made for the song itself and usually worked with it, not distracted from it. It served a purpose since it was after all the "Music Television" channel. The cartoon block of shows and the Real World were a departure and a distraction, but one that I didn't mind anyway since I found Aeon Flux, Beavis and Butthead, etc. interesting and there was still plenty of music video play.

You know when it became glaring that the the channel was going down the toilet and that it was no longer about the music video? Real World marathons and shows that cut off videos a minute in and spent more time asking celebs dumb questions or playing hokey games with the guest audience.

edit: Jesus Christ at that vid! Pretty funny, but horribly fake. I couldn't sit through and entire show of that.

Sounds like televised GAF to me.

No you are right in that they play fewer hours of videos but I think that's solely a ratings thing and makes sense. More people watch shows than hours of 3 to 5 minute video clips. In addition even when they showed more videos back in the day, the debate then was why did they show only crappy/mainstream videos and music and why did they repeat them so much so. I'll also disagree about the effect of music videos in general although it's just my opinion of course but nothing was more damaging to actual music than videos which took the focus off the music and onto a completely different artistic medium that had nothing to do with the actual songs for the most part. It became and has remained far more about image than the music so in a way, I'm glad they show less videos. Less chances for a Britney Spears to be in constant rotation 24/7.

I 100% agree with this. The MTV shows aren't just scripted, they're horribly scripted and fake. 90% of the dialog sounds like a 10 year-old reading off cue cards. It's like an over-produced middle school project. Add with that most of these shows have dizzying editing, which almost gives you epilepsy, they're basically unwatchable for longer than a couple of minutes.

Every generation says MTV is going down the drain, but it really does seem MTV's production values are going to shit these days.

Or just pay off the producers to let you pick one of the other hotties.... or their mothers (heh heh).

But that's only if the show weren't scripted, though. The two hot chicks were models, the mothers are probably in some Swifer Wet Jet commercials, and the fat chick is one of the producer's sisters :/

:lol

Nah you'd be suprised how women with money act...we live in a pretty nice neighboorhood and the women act like their 18/20.
