multiverse of companies

We currently see a quality decline in Disney movies and some questionable decisions at Warner Bros.

What would have happened if the intellectual properties were in totally different companies.

Would it have improved the Star Wars franchise, if it was with Warner Bros, or would DC movies have the impact on Disney?

What would have happened if The Simpsons were part of Universal Studios? Would they have improved the quality of their episodes?

I don't know, but I think that if Star Wars had been with Warner Bros, the quality of the movies would have been partially maintained and the universe would have been respected.

Start with your hypotheses.

Along that same line of thought would be wondering how different directors/writers/producers would handle these franchises.

Like what does a Edgar Wright/Simon Pegg Star Wars Trilogy look like?

What about a George Miller or Alfonso Cuaron DC Universe?

I don't think what we are seeing is neccesarily a talent problem, it's more like a high level executive decision-making problem.

Most, if not all of the things we cherish were A. products of a singular creative vision, B. hardened in a crucible of desperation, limitations, and inspiration, and C. flukes compared to their similar peers.

So intentionally and deliberately creating stuff that resonates like the pure chance classics is almost impossible.

Is there ANY way to recapture the soul of the original Highlander? The camp of Flash Gordon? The whimsy of Dark Crystal? The joy of Reeves Superman? The style of Burtons Batman? The dread of the Terminator?

Nope.

Damn, when you put it like that it does make since why we're seeing stagnation on big IPs across TV/Film. I mean, Mel Stuart was never supposed to direct Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory, but is documentary style of filmmaking is essential to the comedy of the movie.

Star Trek is of course a prime example of one man's vision and life experiences being essential to the series they created. Gene Roddenberry's military career and experiences is part of the DNA of Star Trek and showrunners trying to move away from that hurts the series overall.
