I've been using Reason for the past few months, but according to some of my friends I am a nub and should be using Project5 or Abelton Live. Apparently Abelton is the most simply to pick up and work with, but I'm not sure I want to drop the cash if it's not that good.

I'm wondering if there is a Gaf standard.

Ableton is amazing. Extremely user friendly as far as DAWs go, and you can pick it up in about 6 months or so if you want to. Personally I use Logic, but that's just because it's what I was introduced to first.

That being said, I don't think there is a "best" for making music; it's just finding a program you feel comfortable enough with to make the music you want to.
