To celebrate the differences of musical taste in GAF, lets talk about.... the negatives. Everyone around usually has a group that someone here hates. I'll start this one off by saying The Mars Volta is absolutely atrocious.

People in real life agree with me, but here in bizarro forum land the Smashing Pumpkins are somehow a good band and Billy Corgan apparently has talent. Shocking!

Yeah, just about everything from the alt-rock era of the 90s was terrible. Especially Nirvana and the Smashing Pumpkins - I just find it unlistenable now. Pearl Jam I don't mind too much though.

I don't hate...but I don't see what's so great about Radiohead. I've heard of a few of their songs, and they are alright...but they seem completely over-rated.

I really hate bands like 3 doors down and creed and stuff.

Weezer
Bob Dylan

I don't really hate them, but they're huge bands/musicians that just do nothing for me.

I'll try to think of some more...

Black Eyed Peas... I liked them back in the day when they were giving out demo CD's via stores trying to get "noticed".

They've gone too commercial now... f*ck em.

Billy Corgan, Rush, Smashing Pumpkins, Backstreet boys, Smashing pumpkins, how could anyone hate the Dylan or Radiohead?, Smashing pumpkins, Oasis, Smashing Pumpkins

Switchfoot..

oh wait, I love those guys. And so do decapitated grand canyon floating vixens:

What's wrong? Sad? My opinion...makes you sad? I mean, you expect me to listen to every single song they made? Would that make you feel better? Perhaps I'd change my mind then? So you wouldn't be so blue anymore? Hmm?

Blackace, you won't find a vocal 50 supporter.

Can I put down, all reggae songs? I can't understand and I just don't like it.

Well someone keeps his damn singles one the top of the charts and on the radio 24/7/..

I find him musically boring and tedious to listen to. If I want to appreciate Dylan, I'll just read some of his lyrics. But he's not a poet, he's a musician, and I never enjoyed him as one.

Conversely, I'll agree with you on Radiohead, because I find them to be one of the most musically interesting bands in a long while.

Oh yeah, I'm absolutely bawling. That's why I used one of these- :(, isn't it? When a band's repertoire is as broad and multifaceted and diverse as Radiohead's, I can't take someone's opinion of them seriously when they admit they've "only heard a few songs" of theirs. Most Radiohead fans dislike at least one of their albums or 'eras', if you can call them that.

But if you're familiar with Radiohead and you hate them, that's fine. That's different from saying "they suck", which is a whole kind of stupid.

I, too, dislike Dylan.. if I want to appreciate him I will listen to remakes of his songs... Like All along the watchtower by.....Jimi

Let's see, let me go to mtv.com....oh, the first band name I see, Simple Plan. Then there's Kelly Clarkson, Nick Cannon, Britney Spears, Ja Rule, Ying Yang Twins, Jessica Simpson, Ashlee Simpson, GOOD CHARLOTTE (They're just HORRIBLE!!ugh),...and I think that's it. That's just the front page alone :lol

and Lay Lady Lay by Ministry.... waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay better than the original

Dave Matthews Band
Matchbox Twenty

I'm hesitant to put Oasis on the list, given how their fall off suggests that not even close to "everyone" loves them. Just a few rowdy bastards in England and Meier. :P

I'll add the Stones to the list, too. Another band I don't absolutely hate, but aside from maybe one song, I'd never go out of my way to listen to them, and I think they're horribly overrated and their music hasn't aged well at all.

Counting Crows. Somebody mentioned the Devil's Own Jingle "Mr Jones" in another thread and the fucking thing is in my head now. I hate that guy's warble, I hate the words, I hate everything else I have heard by them, and a ton of people seem to like them. Ugh.

It has less to do with the band per say and just the folks who listen to them. For example, Mars Volta, which I was interested at one point, but am now totally turned off due to the NYC hipster crowd embracing them.

The Beatles. Especially fuckin' hate their later folksy shit like Sgt. Pepper. Total swish hippie musak. U2 is second on my list, followed by Coldplay. And, of course, post-Police Sting.

Thankfully, no-one likes the Indigo Girls, so I feel safe hating them.

Matchbox Twenty, Pink Floyd, and The Eagles are all better than you asses who put them on your list... I am done ranting now... thx for the time.

I can't believe The Beatles, The Doors, The Rolling Stones and Radiohead have been mentioned.

Well, I'll go with The Killers, Audioslave, Interpol and At The Drive In.

Matchbox 20 and Pink Floyd in the same sentence?
Does not compute.

I am not going to get in a shouting match with you over this, but I would like you to explain that. I know plenty of people from the Pink Floyd generation who enjoy both bands, so I dont see the hate.

I have signed affidavits from expert witnesses who have testified to the fact that my ass is, in fact, better than The Eagles.

(And it sounds better than them, too. Especially after a trip to Taco Bell.)

People enjoy Matchbox 20? Really? God I hate the band. It's just complete corporate rock made for radio stations to fill in between ads without frustrating listeners with unexpectable sounds, to me. There's a formula that's really easy to figure out for everything Rob Thomas has been involved in. It's really one of the bands I hate the most, I just can't see anything interesting about them.

Fucking ABBA.

I don't know why, but thier music makes me violently angry. I got in a fight with my wife because she wanted to see that musical Mamma Mia. I can sit through alot of shitty Broadway ... but ABBA+Broadway musical is like a match made in hell.

They are anything but corporate. They started in Orlando and have kept to their roots, save for the abomination of Rob Thomas' solo album. Now THAT you can call corporate. Their concerts are some of the most enjoyable I have ever been to. Well coordinated lights, screens, and other aspects add to the ambiance of a great evening of music. If you hate them because you think they are corporate, I know where you stand on music as a whole, but if you would like to back it up with something specifically about their music (which you apparently haven't heard much of), then be my guest.
