I just came back from a jog to shed the Covid kilos and my neighbour drove by halfway through my run and started asking if I was alright.
So I’m standing there on the side of road in between puffs trying to explain I’m exercising.

The only nice thing about my birthday these days is my daughter being genuinely excited for me because she thinks adult birthdays carry the same excitement that kids birthdays do.
Otherwise it’s just a bunch of other adults saying “what do you want for your birthday” and me saying “I’m good thanks” while thinking “one more year down the drain, I hope I’m on pace with where I should be” while knowing I’m still behind on where I want to be down payment wise and all the other shit.
What I’m saying is chin up bucko, all birthdays kinda suck, but that’s okay because it’s also insignificant. Really it’s the mom that should celebrate birthdays. They are the ones that went through hell X years ago.

If you can, you should treat yourself a little, OP. Extend that birthday a little bit, as ridiculous as it sounds, and spend a day off doing your favorite things, with your favorite people, if possible.
Sometimes life happens, and no reason to miss out on a fun, once-a-year celebration, right?
