I've made a bootdisk to format my hard disk. Do i need a windows me installation cd to reinstall windows or can I install windows me from the bootdisk too??

<sigh> I'm assuming you mean a 3 1/2 floppy disk is now bootdisk?

If so in short... a floppy disk is not big enough to hold an entire MS operating system.. yes you'll need an operating system CD to do an install.... and you really need a full operating system install CD as oppose to an upgrade operating system install CD which would try to check for previous versions to qualify you for the upgrade.

Here's my suggestion... don't reinstall ME, go buy a copy of XP or at the very least 2000...really.

Now you realize that you are going to lose everything on your HD with a reformat/install right?

hey, I had to format my computer yesterday. It was no fun, but I can at least open up IE and windows explorer now. Couldn't back up anything though :/

make a different partition this time and stash all your misc files on there

I have a shitty computer at the moment (64mb!!) so I think xp is outof the question. But thanks anyway. I'm saving up for a new pc which i'm going to buy in a week or two. I just wanted to clean this one up before that. I guess that's out of the question because I don't own a windows me cd.
