My first Xbox game...

...Is Gun Valkyrie. I know it's crap but I'm a Sega whore but I'm trying to buy Xbox games on the cheap before they're only available as 2nd hand. As I've got 1 final year of Uni and I need to concentrate on work so I'm going to wait to buy a console to play it on - either an X360(if it supports obscure titles) or an Xbox(when it's cheap). My question is does anyone actually have anything good to say about Gun Valkyrie or have a I bought an £8 turkey?

I liked it. Reminded me of Ranger X in 3D. Really hard to master, but once you get the hang of it, the booster-shoot system is really fun. It's worth the time if you are a SEGA whore. It really appealed to me in that respect.

Last boss is a bitch. Watch out. Great game.

Gunvalkyrie, JSRF, and Halo were the trio that convinced me to buy the system in the first place. :P

I actually thought GV was pretty sweet as it really rewarded skilled playing and was actually worth mastering (to a degree). It could have used work in some areas, but it was just such a joy to fly around.

GV was lame. Im here having to push the analog stick back and forth(THE SKILLZ) rubbing my skin off so I can get a high score. Game was repitive, the levels were boring. Some of the bosses were fun tho, but that didnt keep me from selling it off right after I was done with it.

D-X...buy OutRun2 for 20 bucks and youre set.

The game kicks ass. If you love old classic Sega racers(duh) then this game was made for you.

Btw-I thought Gun Valkyrie was good, but also hated it because it was hell on my hands. Other than that it was a good fun ride.

Outrun is on my list as well as Orta, jet Set, Otogis Spikeout and TJ and E (shudder) but what became of that Xbox Outrun SP rumour is it real or not?

I liked Gunvalkyrie a lot. That said, I hated the controls. Sure, it's okay once you pass the learning curve and get used to it, but the controls could've and should've been so much better.

gunvalkyrie sucks. i love smilebit and i tried to convince myself otherwise. but it just sucks. play chikyuu boeigun 2 instead.

I agree...love the game. The level with the guy talking to himself with the background music was soo cool..trippy. And the heat effects off the lava/water was cool.

There's nothing that makes a game suck more than bad controls. So yeah, why did you choose that game? Buy Phantom Dust.

gunvalkyrie is great. learn the controls, and you'll like it.

I usually agree with your opinions, but not this time. I know the game isn't for everyone, but if you're willing to put the time into it, and you enjoy mastering a game then it's great. The first time you play through it you're probably going to be walking along the ground a lot taking a lot of time in each level. Then you start getting better and learning to combo and then you can stay up indefinitely taking out enemies with ease and blowing through them. A very satisfying and rewarding action game.

GunValkyrie is also my first XBox game. Bought it three years before I bought an XBox even. Now that I've gotten to play it...

GV is actually a pretty cool game. I'd give it a 7 / 10 in realistic scoring (where 5 is really average). It's hardly perfect, and there's a lot more that it could have been. But it's still better than most games out there. It's actually made for people who like gameplay over cinematics/story and that makes it a huge plus.
