My Gamestop is reserved out of PSP's. Is everyone's?

According to an employee, Sony only sent 20 to the store I was just in. So, if you plan to buy a PSP from Gamestop, you might want to keep this in mind.

Manabyte speaks the long-told EB and Gaemstop tale... lol

Anyway, I myself am waiting until there is a decent softwar library and a couple price cuts on the system. I've already got to worry about saving for Xenon or Xbox2 whatever you call it.

Gamestop I was at last night said they had 60 preorders and they were told they could keep going. Take that as you will.

Yes, all gamestop stores quit taking them. I just confirmed it with work. They are susposed to take preorders for the second shipment under a generic sku until we get a more exact date for a second shipment which we would then transfer the generic reservations over.

I'm surprised they sold out already. I mean, I expected it come march, but not before the end of febuary.

it's probably best to just call your store or ask the next time you are in there. Then you'll know for sure. Just be sure to ask the manager. They are much more likely to be concerned with getting accurate information to customers than the bottom-rung stock clerk.

When i went in and pre-ordered one yesterday at gamestop I was told they'd be cutting off around 30 (i was around number 20) till they found out the exact numbers they were getting. If they were getting more than they'd re-open pre-orders, if not then people were SOL. The guy working said he didn't think they'd get more than 30 units. I was surprised myself that i was number 20 i figured there'd be alot more preorders. Now i just need to hunt down two units on release day and i'll be set heh.

Suikoguy: What exactly is the generic SKU? When i put down my $50 yesterday it read

995219 Sony PSP HW $50.00 (x 1)

NM made a call and i'm fine, although for future reference it may still be good to post.

Remember, it's likely that you'll be able to find the PSP on launch day at Target, Walmart, etc. if you are there early enough. Generally these stores get their shipments the same day and don't pre-order, so it's first come first serve. Just an idea.

Yeah that's my plan, Circuit City for my PSP (very liberal return policy, if i don't get a perfect unit they'll return it no questions asked heh), GS on reserve, and Wal-mart/Target/Best-buy/whatever for the third.

Michael000 the generic sku doesn't have any information on the ticket it's just a sku number and it show's you put money down to reserve something.

Heh, already? Let the hype train get stronger and stronger. I'm really surprised first shipments are already gone. Damn. Time to hit Wal-Mart at midnight on the 24th! Perhaps by the beginning of March the hype will get so strong it'll be like the PS2 all over again.

do any of the EB people here know about the "service plan" they're offering yet? Is there a minimum number of dead pixels before they'll replace it?

We're not out of PSPs yet. We probably have 17 or so reserved, but we haven't been told to stop yet. Last night someone called about cancelling the preorder too. Guess they found out the price (because one of the employees there was telling them it'd be anywhere from $150 to $200).

damn I feel bad, I just told somebody yesterday that they could come in on thursday and do it, though I did say "they could shut it off at any time"

Yeah, employees aren't telling people that Sony is only shipping value packs at launch.

This was long before we knew about the real price. All we had was speculation based on the Japanese launch.

Another guy called last night and thought it was gonna be $150, but when I told him what it came with, it sold him on a preorder.

Does Gamestop take the date of purchase into account? For instance, if my store took 50 preorders for the initial launch and only got 40 units, would they hold back PSPs for those who preordered way in advance?

I preordered in December when they started the $50 compaign but I might not be able to get to the store when it opens. I want to make sure that it will be there for me.

I just pre-ordered mine with no problem.

These orders from EB/Gamestop home office to stop pre-orders are nothing more than yet another one of their tools to get a preorder from a customer.

The home office sends out and email to stop taking preorders, but that is just a sign for the manager to start their latest preorder offer: "We can't take anymore pre-orders, BUT I have one or two systems not spoken for so if you put money down RIGHT NOW you can get one at launch."

I just called up GameStop an hour ago, and they are not accepting preorders anymore. In his words, they sold out "extremely fast." They'll have to ask the buyers to order more units, and then they will be able to start taking pre-orders for the 2nd shipment.

This is amazing, considering Sony barely announced the price last thursday, and now they are out of systems.

Good thing I preordered mine alreadly! Have fun fighting the mall crowd and ebay gaugers!! :D

Sony Computer Entertainment sets a new standard for entertainment on the go with the PSP!
*All new preorders will be filled after initial launch.

These are the $400+ bundles too. Some people will actually be grateful to only pay $250 for a value pack now. If Sony can sell out charging that much, they'll sell core packs at $200 in the summer easily. Suck it down Nintendo!
