My Hometown is embarrassing right now....

So there is a huge controversy right now in my hometown. The school district board just lost a case because they were forcing Christian prayer into school board meeting, rightly so of course. Religion should stay out of the public sector.

Prayers, Bible readings and calls to “find Jesus” are common occurrences at Chino Valley Unified school board meetings, according to a lawsuit alleging that trustees violated the Constitution.

One of the school board members even went on a disgusting rant in the middle of a board meeting...

“Children are not commodities that can be severed from their natural parents and traded between unrelated adults,” Andrew Cruz said during the Chino Valley Unified School District board meeting on July 16. “Parenting will be defined, erasing and replacing with gender-neutral legal parent, erasing biological natural parenthood [so] that states would ignore childrens’ foremost right: their immutable, intrinsic yearning to know and be raised by their own biological parents. Gender of parents matter for the health and developments of children.”

The school board of course loss the lawsuit as it should be

The most recent meeting of the Chino Valley Unified school board was notable for what it didn’t feature: prayer.

Earlier in the day Thursday, U.S. District Judge Jesus Bernal had told the board to drop their long habit of “reciting prayers, Bible readings and proselytizing at board meetings.”

The school board has been opening its meetings with religious invocations since November 2013.

The judge’s ruling came out of a lawsuit filed by several plaintiffs, including Wisconsin-based Freedom From Religion Foundation.

Bernal said the school board had violated the plaintiffs’ First Amendment rights.

They just announced that they will be appealing this and I hope they fucking lose and are forced to resign. All this shit is being funded by tax payer money and fund from a mega church who some of the board members attend.

It's really fucking embarrassing.

"I'm so embarrassed that I made a finely-detailed thread about it to let as many people know how embarrassed about it I am."

OT: What a tremendous waste of taxpayer money.

I'll never understand how some people can be so whacked in the head to feel like that type of shit is ok.

In Chino? Isn't that the rich area? Or is that Chino Hills?

Either way it's weird this happened in Cali. We're not big on religion in schools here.

Was expecting a state in the South. I'll never understand the thought process of people like this.

Earlier in the day Thursday, U.S. District Judge Jesus Bernal had told the board to drop their long habit of “reciting prayers, Bible readings and proselytizing at board meetings.”

lmao

The thing that pisses me off is when these people lose, and they will lose, tax payers foot the bill to their attorneys.

These fucks should be forced to pay back every single pony back to the edu fund that is being wasted on this bullshit.
