My professor is a hoot

So I recently started college, all online. My professor has a seminar once a week for going over the topic of the week, etc. this man is pretty old, and absolutely cracks me up. He has a super soft voice, but giggles at a lot of the stuff we will put in chat (pertaining to the subject… normally) . I’m still pretty new to all of this but he’s really relaxed and lenient about turn in times for all of us students. I wish he’d be the professor for the whole 4 years lol

there’s not really a point to this post, just wanted to share a fun experience I’ve had so far ty for coming to my tedtalk

Teachers that can laugh and make learning fun are the best.

I had a history teacher that was pretty funny and made learning about history fun. Wasn't my favourite subject, but I enjoyed his lessons because he had personality. Very interactive lessons that brought me out of my shell.

Many college professors are that way.
Most teachers are, actually. It's just that college students are finally old enough for the teachers to less loose a bit.

I love my AP classes for that exact reason.
Just last week, actually, I was observed by the VP (a massively incompetent slug of a person). We were reading "A Modest Proposal" at the time (which is far above her level of intelligence). The look on her face was priceless. I can't wait for the feedback meeting.

Let us know. What is a VP?

Thankfully I had a lot of decent professors in college with a sense of humour and seemed to enjoy it and engage with with students.

The ones who seemed to be "fuck my life" were awful.

I got a high grade in Java despite not really understanding it thanks to the lectures, another person got a 90%+ and beat me despite never actually turning in the paper/project. I felt pretty hard done by being honest but the dude was cool so we laughed about it.

Had another professor that was hard of hearing so brought in a mini guitar amp and mic and blasted the room out of it. Think I gave up and studied that at home, was going to make me deaf.

I seriously miss college and debate a masters or PhD all the time when my mind wanders.

I spent 18 years studying full-time at university (and working full-time, am not a freeloader) and am happy you had a good experience. I quit since I found that courses were being dumbed down too much and it was becoming more like a middle school. Good professors are rare. I was a lecturer for many years and I know that I was loathed so much lol.

Spoiler: It's 2021. He's a serial killer.

It's awesome when you meet someone awesome

My psychiatrist is old and seemed awesome until I mentioned psychedelics for trauma treatment. It was at that moment he showed his age and became less awesome.

I had a college philosophy professor once who was a drop dead gorgeous lady but an absolute dingbat. She was late grading our papers once because she tried to bleach her hair, messed it up and her hair turned green (before this was fashionable) and it took her all weekend to try to fix it.

But DAMN, I wish I had run into her at a bar back then for a little "hot for teacher" action. I'm sure I would have gone down in flames but it would have been worth it!

Hopefully you're learning well too. It's nice to have a teacher you like but it's more important to have a teacher that teaches you well on the subject that they're teaching.
