My PSPredicament

m on an exchange program in Israel, and I want a PSP. I can get the PSP about 1 month and a half before I leave from a friend who is visiting. I have about 350 bux to Best Buy at home so everything I talk about must come from there. Here are my issues:

-Im worried Ill get a faulty unit and Ill be screwed (dead pixels, exc.)
-Is it worth getting it before E3, or should I hold off till I get back in the first week of June
-Protection, Ill need a good case to keep the unit in tact while I go on trips, exc.
-Some of the best games come out while I would have my PSP here, but I would be unable to get them

So guys... what do you think is the smart thing to do?

Eh, I'd wait. A defective unit when overseas would suck, and who knows, you might be in for a price drop at E3 if you're lucky? And if the games you really want aren't out yet, what's the point in getting one now?

Wait it out, I say.

Agreed. I'd wait. Too risky, and if there isn't much of the launch lineup that interests you (my situation), there won't be anything to buy for months. I just scanned EBGames.com's future PSP games listing, and there's nothing of note there. :(

Same reason why I'm holding off importing a PSP :gasp: The aussie launch is still unknown so... I'm waiting. Not picking up a Dead System. Not yet anyhow... too many console titles to play + busy

I'd say get it.. because you're there. You can look at the PSP before you buy it. Just head to a shop with very many stock before you get one.

can't you import games to Israel? Its perfectly good to get from onlne retailers (games) and/or ebay

Karish: May as well just hold off; it's only a month and a half, right?

If for no other reason, wait a couple of months for the dead pixel issues to pan out a bit. Don't expect a price drop outside of Sony releasing the basic pack (PSP and AC adapter).

i got mine from US and i was lucky i only have 1 dead pixel in the far left corner next to the Home button, i never look at that part of the screen anyway so its great!

but i guess you could ask the guys that works at the shop where you are going to buy the PSP to open the package and check it for dead pixels before sending it to you...but do it on your own risk.

i trust my store www.ncsx.com so i would not have any problems trusting the guys at the shop to open the PSP pack and check it for dead pixels, i buy alot of games from them and they are reliable.

Chances are you WILL get a couple dead pixels, but they won't bother you after a couple days. Have your friend test out the unit in the US before they bring it to you. Although at some point they might discontinue the value pack, I seriously doubt there'll be a price drop this year. There certainly won't be one before the Christmas season. There's already a bunch of great PSP games. More good games are out now than will be coming out in the next two months. There's lots of cases. Tell your friend to pick you one up at Best Buy.. just specify small/many pockets and hard/soft.
