My Sister's Childhood BFF was Kidnapped on Wednesday

Just got a text from my mom linking to a news article. http://www.actionnewsjax.com/news/local/mom-of-missing-21-year-old-savannah-gold-i-just-want-to-know-where-she-is/581931269

About 30 minutes after Gold was supposed to be at work, her father Daniel said he got a text from Gold’s phone. It had misspelled words and said she was running away with a great guy she met and would call them later.

That was the moment Gold’s parents said they knew something was wrong.

“He showed it to me and I immediately knew that it wasn’t her," Sharon Gold said. "We text each other all day and every day … and this was not from my daughter. It was from someone else."

Gold’s car was left in the Bonefish Grill parking lot parked behind an ATM and under some trees.

The doors were unlocked and her purse with cash and her ID were left in the car. Her dad said her brand new tire was slashed.

scary stuff. I guess she just got grabbed and the person sent a text to her parents thinking cops would be less inclined to look for her?

probably because i watch too much tv, but the bit about cash being left in the car sounds real bad, money not being an obvious motive.

Sounds like the person slashed the tires ahead of time to follow her until she would stop the car. Crazy, hope she is ok and is found soon.

yea it makes it sound even more scary. like, I knew this girl. she's been in my house. she even went on family vacation with us one time. I just really hope they find her.

If it is a kidnap, hopefully the perpetrator(s) still has her mobile (perhaps to continue the narrative) and the cops/Feds can microlocate it and, as a corollary, her.

Wonder if it's like that situation where that other teen got taken by her teacher a few months back and went to a cabin in the West somewhere because they were in loev.

One of my greatest fears is that someone I know will go missing. My heart sinks whenever I read about this kind of stuff.

Article says the guy was a manager at the restaurant she worked at and had an on/off relationship. So terrible... rip

I feel so much anger every time I hear this happens.

I don't understand. They get nothing out of it and go to jail. I can understand killing someone that hurt you badly but random innocent girls ?

Seeing as her stuff was left there, and tire shalshed, it might've been someone she knew. It definitely was. Someone who was obsessed with her?

I know it's not much or really comforting at all but there's some solace in knowing what happened so soon. A family near me was searching for three years before they got the guy who did it and confirmed her death. I think the guy did random kidnappings and someone escaped and he had files relating to a couple other cases on his computer.

Not to this poor girls story but to my own. My mom was confused. This was NOT my sister's BFF. Her BFF also named Savannah and also 21 and also thin and blonde and in JAX is fine. Different last name. I haven't seen her since I was like 14 so I took my mom's word for it. I just texted my condolences to my sister and she was like, "wtf no"

wow.

Still, what happened to this kidnapped girl is terrible. RIP.

The amount of violence men perpetrate against women is infuriating.

Good that your Savannah is safe but I can't imagine how terrified Gold must have been when she was kidnapped and murdered. RIP, and my thoughts and prayers are with her family.

Holy shit this story makes me sick to my stomach.

well according to the last article I read it appears she was murdered immediately. in the car while still in the parking lot of her job. police say it looks like she got in his car and they started fighting and he killed her. I guess he then panicked and sent her parents that text then dumped her body.

Oh, seems the most unfortunate scenario came to pass. How tragic. My condolences to your sister. . Unrelated person but no less tragic, RIP.

If you notice your tire is odd and that it might've popped without you realizing, you should never stop to check it out. Especially if someone is the one noticing and is offering to help. It's an extremely common theft operation by stalking cars that have had their tires slashed. You need to get to a crowded gas station or something similar.

Oh my goodness, I cannot process how tragic this is. Motherfucker that did this to her needs to get the full extent of the law thrown at him.
