My wild arms 4 review

Red Scarlet: wrong. i realized that and continued, only to be freaking bored to pieces with the 1% story and 99% leveling. can't believe you wrote that huge FAQ at gamefaqs. you have way too much free time. :(

You don't have to level much at all. If 99% of the time you spent was levelling, then that would be pretty boring getting to level 20 before getting the third party member, I agree.

I'm converting the guide for the US version now. :)
The game has been out for over a year now. It's not like I typed it up in a week. :)

What'd I say that was wrong? I've been told that that battle is a non-victory, but you *did* say you were going for a perfect battle record your first time.

alright..i tried the game again.

i still only had the hero and yargus, and was trying to level up; i was around level 9. if ya remember, I'm one of those "100% battle record or quit" guys. I started a random battle, and pressed down, then 'confirm', thinking i would cast heal with the hero. i totally forgot that i have to first past the 'fight' box first. i fled the battle instead.

sigh.

i think i have a bad connection with dragon quest or something.

Why you'd try for that the first time through a game is puzzling.

US version isn't out yet till 9/06.

Red Scarlet: Well, you were implying that I quit after I died. I didn't post it, but I reached that winter town Osterik or whatever before just understanding that the game is complete recycling of town fight town fight a dhoulmagus town fight town fight etc

Monk: I didn't play Suikoden IV, but man. I bet anyone here can make a much better storyline for WA4, that's for sure. So many holes, so many annoying voices, so many problems. That's WA4.

How dopey are the platforming sections? I'm a pretty patient gamer that can handle a dopey plot, a dopey combat system, dopey grafix, and some dopey characters; but if the platforming is closer to FFX-2 than Battle of Olympus then all bets are off.

If it's any consolation, I imagine WA4 will be relatively scarce in short order due to the fact that I've never heard of the publisher before. Are they the ones doing Shadow Hearts 3, too?

Yes.

Platforming is not like FFX-2. The controls are like an actual platformer with double jump, stomp, and dash.

I've been so busy, i had forgetton it came out this week. I really liked WA 1 and 2, and 3 was ok, but i found myself finishing it to be done with it rather than because i wanted to see the ending. I'm more interested in Alter code F right no.

If you don't trust me, by all means, buy the game. It got scores that I consider way too forgiving.
1UP 6 / 10
Gaming Age B
RPG Fan 90 / 100
RPGamer 3.5 / 5
Gamespot 7.8

The game is just freaking wrong.
I hear reading the reviews, you know, the actual justification behind the scores, tends to help.

That's because it's their first game. Shadows Hearts: From The New World will be XSEED's second game.

It took 3/4 of the game to see that? o.O That's what the series is about.

Wrong. You like making up things don't you? I realized it after the second town. What I was hoping for was some decent other challenges other than just leveling up, or some decent story other than the stupid cliche madness. Maybe you should just go back to continuing writing your retarded FAQ for a retarded game.

Man you really suck at taking criticism.

Brandon F - The platforming is pretty good, you've got your jump, double-jump, stomp, slide and Accelerator(which slows the world down and uncovers gella for a short time). A lot of the rooms you have to step back and plan your path through, but it doesn't get too frustrating. If you make an error or end up missing something on your way through a room, you can just fall off a ledge and it'll reset with you at the entrance. The tools are pretty creative, moreso than previous games. You use more of the background this time around. I'm really enjoying it thus far.

mint: Though you're certainly entitled to your own opinion, that's no excuse for you to resort to personal attacks. Give it a break.

I picked this baby up last night, partly due to mint's thoughtful, in depth impressions.

I honestly can't believe you would rip on Scarlet's FAQ of all things. It's got an amazing amount of useful information that I'm sure you barely looked over. I'm also in disbelief that you would play 75% of a game before deciding it sucks. Why even waste your time if you disliked it so much sooner?

Well, i'm the kind of person that generally think FAQs are a waste of time. it's like having a person telling you what to do, what to get, what it does...when you should be doing those yourself.

Well sure, I don't use FAQ's either unless I'm really stuck. The point is, a lot of people do enjoy using them and as far as DQVIII goes, Red Scarlet's is one of the most informative. Just because you hate using FAQ's doesn't give you any right to discredit her hard work.

ah crap really? i enjoyed it because it offered new ideas to me i haven't seen, like the division of the storyline into 3 areas.

How is going by what you said making things up? Actually the ice town is about 85% of the regular game. You don't have to level up if you just fight what comes along.

Will do. Maybe I'll throw you in the thanks/credits section for 'moral support'. :)
