TGS 2005: Three PS3 Games From Namco
One you've heard of, two you haven't.

September 16, 2005 - Among the flurry of silent (but legitimate) PlayStation 3 game announcements at the 2005 Tokyo Game Show, Namco unveiled three titles that it plans to support the system with. The first, which for some reason or another was listed as a "New Fighting Game" is in all actuality, the next Tekken (which had its E3 trailer playing on Sony's video wall). The other two, however, are entirely new and had never been mentioned before until today -- a brand new RPG and an unknown shooting game.

Speculation in the IGN war room is running rampant about the new titles, as we've tossed around ideas that the new titles could be anything from a new Tales or Xenosaga game to Time Crisis and kill.switch follow-ups. Just how accurate our guesses are only time will tell, but whether the two new titles are sequels to existing franchises or brand new IPs altogether, the announcement is still great news for eventual PS3 owners.

Stay tuned for more as it develops.

$500 it's a new Tales... game. Still no Ridge Racer 6 announcement, though I imagine MS paid Namco some coin to hold off on that until after the 360 launch.

So...

Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection
Tales of Harmonia
Dead to Rights 3

You think it'll be Dark Res...on the PS3?? I'm not so sure....

It'd follow the pattern of a last gen upgrade as the first next gen console Tekken. Then Tekken 6 will follow a year or so later (like T4 did).

WTF!!!! Stop the nonsense Namco!! Cancel Tales of the Abyss and remake it for PS3!! ¡¡¡¡>.<!!!!!

They are going to kill a franchise and me with it ; ;

What is TTT considered an upgrade of? Let me qualify that...

What type of hardware did arcade TTT run on?

DR seems like it would be the first time an upgrade hoped up a gen.. i.e. DR runs on PS2 like hardware with increase ram.. yet it's console version doesn't come out on the PS2.. it comes out on the PS3?

I get your pattern identification, I was just thinking of it from the other direction.

We've seen what happens when current gen games are moved to next gen..So no, don't do that.

TTT arcade?

If they do release an upgraded version of T5: DR on PS3, I hope they also upgrade the animation and tweak the gameplay further.

There's no RR6 PS3 announcement because there won't be an RR6 PS3. Maybe RR7 PS3, but no RR6 PS3.
If this ends up true (which I doubt) I will be extremely surprised. This is a business, and I can almost guarantee Namco would be demanding no less than $30-40 from MS to make this title exclusive to the 360, to make up for the inevitable lost revenue as a consequence of 360 exclusivity. Namco knows a PS3 version could easily sell 750,000 to 1 million units more than the 360 will sell on it's best day (hell, that could be done in Japan alone), and it would be very surprising to me to see MS pay for that.

But MS has certainly proved in the past they are prone to many idiotic purchases in this industry, and this would rank up there with Rare as their worst AFAIC. What a laughable waste of cash if true...

Yeah but....they made 5 tales (main series I mean) in 9 years (until December 2004). And then...

December 2004 - Tales of Rebirth (6th)
March 2005 - Tales of Eternia PSP Port
July 2005 - Tales of Eternia Online PC
August 2005 - Tales of Legendia (7th)
December 2005 - Tales of the Abyss (8th)

And for 2006 (especulation) we have...
untitled RPG for X360....tales maybe
untitled RPG for PS3.....tales probably

Recapitulation......5 main tales games in 9 years vs 5 (if x360 and ps3 are also new) tales games in 2 years

><!!!!!

I'll be HIGHLY surprised if a version of RR6 doesn't make it to the PS3... I just don't think you're going to hear that annoucement until after the X360 version is released...

As far as I'm concerned Ridge Racer has found its new home on PSP, I'll pass on console versions where I look for deeper racing games thanks.

But RR on the go = BIG WINZ.

I really believe this new Fighting Game is either a new Tekken or a Tag one...Dark Resurrection is PERFECT for the PS2. They can cash a lot releasing it there with minor changes over the PS2 T5 port.

Rebirth, Legendia and Abyss = 3 different teams as well. Rebirth is the ToD2 team, Legendia is Namco, Abyss is Symphonia team...

They are still new entries for the main series....they aren't spin-offs....

They should do like Final Fantasy....only 1 team (the old one, the rebirth one) should do main tales new entries (2 or 3 each gen only) and more teams for spin-offs (online, ports, narikiri dungeon...)...

But thats only my tales-fanboy opinion T_T

While I do think RR6 is coming to PS3, I'll be buying it at launch for X360 - just because.

Well, hopefully, Ridge Racers sales will persuade Namco to develop he sequel. :)

Shooting game? Could it be new Time Crisis or Point Blank?

Well it won't be a new Xeno game because Episode 3 is the last.
Which is REALLY unfortunate, seeing as how the series was originally composed to be seven episodes.

Even Xenogears was supposed to be seven episodes.

Ah, how depressing. :(

TTT was on the System 12, an upgraded PlayStation. Tekken 3 was a System 12 game too but since it came out in arcades in 1997, it couldn't go on a more powerful machine (if there was one at the time). Soul Calibur was a System 12 game and it was moved up to Dreamcast.

Tekken 6 is too early, considering the effort they are putting into DR.

Is Xenosaga 3 really the end? I thought that was just rumors?

Pehaps by the last it's the last by that director in the first time period they layed out. Next up, new story director second time period?

Bah what's the point of a Klonoa game on the DS?
To continue the puzzle focused G series of course. Then PSP can get the regular, more action oriented platformers...

Klonoa G3~ DS
Klonoa 3~ PSP

:)
