I believe it does for the non-remake versions of certain games.

ROLLING THUNDER GET

Yeah I think it is cool Rolling Thunder is on the disc. :D

I don't want to start a new thread, but I noticed Capcom has a classic collection disc coming out the end of September on PS2 and Xbox for only 20 bucks. I saw an ad for it in the current Gamepro and thought, "What is this?" Checked it out on Gamestop website and this is a damn nice collection for only 20 dollars! No Cube version though PS2 and Xbox only!

GAH. I want to get this, but my gaming budget is tapped out for another month. Ah well, this one's not going to disappear anytime soon.

Game sharing only works for a few of the games from the original Japanese release. Maybe even all of them, but you won't be sharing Dig Dug 2 :(

I'd love to see that Capcom collection come to the PSP. I'd love to see all these classic collections come to the PSP, actually. Taito Memories and Sonic Mega Collection, please.

Oh hell I just thought of something. Does this game force a firmware update? I need to know before I go pick it up.

FYI the Capcom Classic Collection is mind blowingly good. Forgotten Worlds was 90% perfect as of May. This is a must have.

I'll get it at lunch and let you know ;)

Actually, I've already got 2.0 as I have no use for emu, so I guess it wouldn't tell me upfront.

You guys who are worried about force firmware upgrades realize that you're on borrowed time right?

The next round of PSP releases this fall will probably all force the firmware upgrade so you might as well go ahead and take the plunge...that is, unless you plan to never buy another PSP game.

Given that there are now upgrade-skipping UMD loaders? No, thanks :P

I only care about the PSP as a homebrew development platform (and, I guess, an emulation station), but I'd like to get as many good games as I can out of it before upgrades become unavoidable.

Yes. Of Course.

I'll take as much borrowed time as I can get to decide whether to proceed with one PSP or buy a second so I can leave the first in its pristine 1.5 format. I'll use whatever borrowed time I can get to see how the homebrew scene continues to progress.

Leaning towards buying a second PSP since I'm becoming interested in dabbling in some homebrew coding for this machine myself.

Me too.

I'm tempted to upgrade for some of the features, but for now, I'll stick with emus and homebrew apps. I've burned through some of my emu interest (the GB, NES and SNES are not my favorite systems) but new stuff, like the Lynx emu, improvements MAME, and cool litlte hb apps are keeping me going.

List of other PSP games shipping before christmas that I'm interested in buying:

List of PSP games shipping after christmas that I'm interested in:
Metal Gear AC!D 2

I don't mind that I'm on "borrowed time", but I'd rather not be upgrading for a museum collection game that may or may not be so hot.

i'll buy it if it doesn't make me update my firmware. metal slug and pulstar > a bunch of ancient namco games, even if xevious happens to be one of those games. not to mention overclocking. which is jesus.

It forces 1.52 :(

I don't have two PSPs, but apparently, the game sharing also requires that the receiving PSP be updated to at least 1.52.

Game sharing in Namco Museum was worthless in the JP version. One stage of Galaga! Or Rally X!

Maybe they changed it for the US version. Everybody enjoys King and Balloon.

Bye bye.

Any game sharing enhancements for USA version?

picked it up today and monkeyed with it a bit. It is really nice! The arranged games allow you to quit and save at any point and are all widescreen.

Anyways... back to the game!

I can confirm that Fastloader .7 bypasses the forced firmware update. Pop in the disc, select "Launch UMD" and done. Xevious in TATE!

How is the Lynx emulator? I just heard about it for the first time yesterday. It's about time some Atari system was emulated on the PSP! :)

I'm just curious to know what you think. I don't think I'll be playing it anytime soon, though, since I upgraded my firmware to version 1.52 from the Namco Museum Battle Collection disc.

I haven't really tried much of Namco Museum Battle Collection yet. So far, I've only played Pac-Man Arrangement and the original Pac-Man.

Pac-Man Arrangement is entirely different from the other Pac-Man Arrangement that Namco did a few years ago. It's very cool, although I liked some stuff (like the merging ghosts) that was in the earlier Arrangement that doesn't seem to be in this new one.

Pac-Man is...well, Pac-Man. And folks, let me tell you, that's why this is so good. It is the arcade game on your PSP. Even though it's not truly emulated, it's so darn close to the arcade game that you probably won't even care. It's pure, simple fun!

Does Namco Museum Battle Collection have a high-score list for all the games? Does it keep profiles?
No profiles. It keeps high scores just like the original games did. So, on some games, there's one high score with no initials. On others, there's a list of 5-10 entries and you can enter your initials when you get a top score. The game maintains a single 300kb file to store all that stuff.

If you want profiles, I guess you could do it the hard way -- don't enable auto saves and just save and load multiple Namco Museum save files (a different one for each person). Though I have no clue how you'd ever keep track except by jotting down dates and times.

does Ms. Pacman allow you to enable the speed up cheat?
