Your toy is gay.

My toys were a complete mismatch assortment of figures, but I had them all duking each other out.

This was before DBZ was popular!

In a strange coincidence, I had about 3 or 4 friends in elementary school that all had the same Lego Grand Prix Raceway set. We used to put 'em together and make things like pedestrian bridges for little people to watch the racers fly under and stuff.

I remember wanting that space station so bad when I was a kid. I did have that castle though. That glow in the dark cover for the ghost was awesome. I also made sure that i didn't lose that shiny crown and sword that the king had.

Hey, they're much better than the ones tied into movies and other shit.

Really. I went shopping for a toychest for my niece and stopped by the Lego display; all either Duplo or that damn Bionix shit. /vomit

When i was little people gave me lots of lego for birthdays etc. After i'd made the set i'd leave it for a few days but then pull it apart and put it in ths big plastic tub.
Making stuff from that tub was awesome, i had spacemen and pirates and little soldier dudes fighting, and a pirate ship with laser cannons...mixing stuff up was so much better than the original sets.

Heh, I had this one too, and it was far and away my favorite Lego set. I remember the back opened up and there was another little ship inside... so cool.

You guys actually made models with your legos? I just had a big bucket and made guns and skyscrapers all the time

Heh. I had a shitload of lego sets when I was a kid--and wound up mixing and matching them.

Especially technic, with the motors. :-D

One time I made a robot outta a few space sets and gave him a rotary arm with the technic motor.

I got both a bunch of those generic ones, and some sets. I used to mix and match them all the time and make some crazy crap, even using some electric motors from my broken toys (as I didn't have the real lego motors)

I went to WAGs boutique and all I got was a sniff

I currently have this on display:

My friend had that last one until we were brunk and i decided to throw it across the room.

You guys just reminded my why I didn't like letting my little girl cousins in my room when I was little. They always got a handle on my lego sets, lost half the pieces or broke them, and then left me with a room full of plastic bits and pieces. Oh how I hated them for that.

Lego "sets" are lame

get some imagination fools.... get a bucket!
A mix is the best. Buckets are great for the generic pieces, but you're not going to get much in the way of flag poles, swords, monkeys, space men, or more uniquely shaped building blocks.

I remember the last time I paid attention to a GAF Legos thread... I went out and bought some buckets that were on sale, and then found my old ones stashed away. Haven't messed with them much since, but it was good fun.

these sets ruled.

I had the one on the top: the Beta 1 Command Base - what an awesome set.
the Beta 1 Command Base I think is the sucessor to the older an smaller 493
Space Command Center: http://guide.lugnet.com/set/?q=493_1&v=z

in addition to the Beta 1 Command Base, I also had the very similar Intergalactic Command Base

which was almost as good.

Call me anal, but when I moved out of my parents' house for good, I did something really smart with my Legos. I took the huge plastic bin out of the closet and put together as many of the sets as I could. I was suprised to find that I had enough foresight as a kid to keep most of the instruction booklets. So, one by one, I built each set, then took them apart, put the pieces into Ziploc bags, and labeled them. I think that was one of the best things I'd ever done for myself. Took about 3 days.

I did manage to get many of the medium sized ships such as

the kewl Gamma-V Laser Craft

Starfleet Voyager (top left), All-Terrain Vehicle (bottem left)
Beta 1 Command Base (center and center right), Galaxy Explorer (top middle)
and Alpha-1 Rocket Base in the distance (center left)

ahhh...the memories!

I used to make some kick ass completely original spaceships with all of the black lego pieces I had from various sets and buckets I got throughout my younger years. Ahh, the memories... :)
