Nanostray shortages

In an email I received from Majesco it appears that Nanostray is going to be in very short supply. I emailed them about the EB Games rumor not carrying the title, and this is the jist of what I was told:

-EB Games WILL be carrying the game, just in sporadic locations. Also some locations that previously were going to receive the game may not unless they have preorders.
-Gamestop is more widely carrying the game, but still not 100% of the stores
-Quantities will be limited (I think it's due to Majesco's financial pinch)
-Second shipments will be very small in comparison to the initial shipment
-The game may not be re-stocked widely on a long-term basis unless the initial shipment does very well
-Many online retailers will not receive full or any shipments of the game

Basically, if the initial shipment sells well, expect to see a more full-fledged release. For now, it's going to be a pretty soft release of Nanostray.

EDIT: Gamestop.com and walmart.com are showing the game as backordered right now.

I just called my local Gamestop, and the kid their said that the game didn't even ship yet, and to come in on Friday. Anyone else having trouble finding this game already?

Yeah thats why I posted a min ago. I get a different excuse each Gamestop I call. But the people who work there mostly don't know much about games.

It won't be out until the 29th July according to Play-Asia, so there is no need to panic just yet.

MaybeÂ…

glad I went and reserved mine yesterday ---- I'm pickin' it up at my local GameStop at 1pm when they said they'd get their shipment in..... I think they're getting like 3 copies o_o

Poor Majesco

I'm heading to TRU right now and getting the game, I laugh at all the people who depend on EBgames/Gamespot. Better to do business elsewhere.

Let us know what happens. It seems that NOBODY had found a place carrying it yet.

Gah, I'm not crazy enough to confuse Majesco's horrible distribution with a "shortage." Oh, it may take a week or two to crop up at Wal-Mart or Best Buy, but when it does, you'll have no trouble buying one, two, three, umpteen copies.

With the exception of their recent "AAA" efforts, such as Psychonauts and Advent Rising, that's just how their distro typically works -- one or two retailers get the lion's share of copies (a veritable ton)....

Happened with the Iridion games... I'd see a few at GameStop, but not EB, and PLENTY at Toys R Us.

Fact is, this is a niche game that will no doubt have a small, yet totally reasonable publishing run. No need to get all insane as if it were Atlus releasing it.

(I've yet to be convinced that Atlus' distributor isn't an amish gentleman with a broken buggy)

time to stock up on copies!

hell yeah.

lets get the hype going now so people wind up with a bunch of extra copies of Nanostray sitting around that they cant unload because there were plenty to go around.

whooo!

the last mediocre game i bought because it was supposedly scarce was spikeout. i don't intend to do it again. but i probably will. :(

The Ikaruga dreamcast Syndrome. I know a guy who is still sitting on 5 of the 10 copies of the game he originally bought, hoping to resell them for a good price :lol

ikaruga is a pain to find sometimes. regardless, i don't think this game is anywhere near ikaruga so it has less going in it's favor for hoarding.

well the DC version of Ikaruga is still in stock in shops, but I cant find the gc version locally, or online

The guy at Gamestop said he had no idea when it was going to come in, but I should call since they did have some coming.

FWIW, Majesco's PR firm said they were only getting review copies to send out today.

Also! You kids don't know how good you have it these days. Why, when I was your age, games didn't even have 'release dates.' They had sort-of-maybe release windows, and you had to call the Toys R Us every goddamn day for half a month just to see if the thing was out.

It was so unheard of for games to come out on a certain day that when somebody had this bright idea, they made up a special fucking name for it, like Mortal Monday or Sonic 2sday.

No kidding - I can remember calling the local Kay-Bee everyday for almost 6 months straight waiting for Double Dragon for the NES to come out... those were the days.

Ordered mine at TRU online. Should have done eBay. There's a BuyItNow for 24.99.

Thanks, I snagged it. $31.94 after shipping is a little less then I'd have to pay in the stores anyway.

Edit: Holy crap that guy is fast. Right after I paid for it he threw up another listing for a second copy and provided me positive feedback right away. Nice.

i remember when my bro randomly called TRU one day and asked if they had Zelda Link to the Past for SNES. they said yes and only had 4 copies. holy crap we were excited that they had copies, but they didn't have many copies so we begged our parents to drive us and bolted out of there quickly. luckily we got a copy and stayed up all night playing the game. but yeah, it was pretty crazy back then. looking through Sears catalogs for game info, calling stores daily for release dates...

Thanks for starting this thread...I was going to wait and try to find the game locally, but I definitely did not want to go through the standard rant of most Gamestop employees when I try to buy a game on release day without a prebook. Why I want to be lectured by people that are not real gamers about prebooking my fringe gaming wares is beyond me....

I wound up picking the game online at Gamestop, using the 20% coupon that was sent in compensation for cancelling my $10 Colussium preorder ($26 with shipping)

Also keep in mind that NCSX will be getting the game in tomorrow as well (at least from what was posted on Monday)

I ordered it from TRU through Amazon.com, with free shipping. Fuck the stupid stores not getting them or knowing when they're coming in.

If it helps Majesco and establishes that sometimes Americans do buy shmups in non-pathetic numbers, I'm all for it :)

I pre-ordered Nanostray weeks ago--paid in full, no less--and my Gamestop didn't receive any copies. What a load of shit. If it doesn't come tomorrow, I'll be writing to Nintendo, Majesco, Gamestop, and maybe Oprah. :-)

Well, I went to a number of stores after my final and couldn't find the game. I picked up Kirby instead. :D

What an awesome game. I'll be getting Nanostray next week, or whenever it comes out, DS is turning out to be quite the handheld.

At EB today, we received a company e-mail saying that we are not carrying Nanostray and to cancel all pre-orders. fuck.

EDIT: Thanks for the eBay idea. I too was able to get it for $31.94 after shipping.
