Naruto RPG 2 for DS announced

Oogami

......as seen from the latest manga.

Awesome news! The first Naruto RPG was awesome. Can't wait for this one. :D

DS not even completed 6 months since came out in Japan.. and now getting second Naruto game.. GO DS o.0

Given the relatively cheap R&D, economical dev. kits, the obvious success & continued sales of the 1st Naruto KZ, higher profit margins allowed by the DS, are you really that surprised? Wait until the DS E3 software announcements, talk about suprises. :D

no one really notices all that at gaf, so with most DS announcement, everyone goes "WTF why not PSP?" :lol

What, the first game was an RPG? It looked more like an action-adventure game to me...

That's Naruto DS. Naruto RPG was for the GBA. I believe it looked almost like Final Fantasy with Naruto characters. If you have the Naruto GCN games I believe there's an ad in the back cover for it.

What's the chances of either of these Naruto RPGs getting a release in English? I need estimates here!

Well the anime is airing on Cartoon Network / Adult Swim near the end of summer, and I imagine since it will probably be the next 'DBZ' that it'll get a huge marketing campaign. Didn't GMR or another magazine already state that the PS2 Naruto fighting games would be released this fall? I imagine the GBA/GCN/DS games would follow, although I'm sure it's going to be slow. They don't want to spoil things for people. :P

so... can we say DS won Japan already? or wait for Pokemon?

Pretty much. But PSP will do enough to stay alive and keep support. PSP in Japan is basically gonna be like Xbox in the US; it'll sell waaay less than the DS overall but it'll have steady stream of good games and will lead to a PSP2 eventually. They lost the war but at least they didn't blow it and bomb out.

oh god, you think this?! I think PSP still has a great shot - its more future proof then DS imo, I think we'll see it make great inroads in 1-2 years. I see myself using mine for that time if the SONY curse doesn't mean it carks it first. Its definitely doing great (compared to all the other rosebuded other handhelds).

The ultimately challenge to see if it'll end up like Wonderswan... had a bit of life but ultimately doomed.

I think it has a shot in the US. But the Japanese market is very predictable. Consumers stay with the brand they know (ie: Sony for consoles, Nintendo for handhelds) and developers stay where the biggest marketshare is (ie: Sony for consoles, Nintendo for handhelds). Personally I think the Japanese market has just gotten stuck in a loop and IMO there is no way for the not-past-king to beat the current king of last generation.

Don't get me wrong, I think the PSP is a really great system with excellent software so far; but when it comes to the Japanese market they don't buy what's good...rather they buy what they know is a safe bet (just look at software sales).

It saddens me to see the DS performing so well. :\

Heh, I think a lot of people feel that way. I don't, but it seems odd given the great alternative handheld gamers have.

it saddens me that that you think that its sad that a system with worse graphics than PSP can actually sell more......thank god not all pple are like you....

But.. but... nintendo is teh kiddie and are holding back the industry! :(

I know you're kidding here, but do people actually blame Nintendo for holding back the industry? What possible justification is there for such a remark? That the handhelds have improved too slowly? The competitors have tried to accelerate many times, but it's the consumers who shut down those efforts, not Nintendo.

People tend to forget that Nintendo, Sony, and MS don't give a SHIT about you. They do however, care about your money. With Nintendo's dominance in the handheld marketplace over the years, they don't need to spend a lot of money to make a load.

On the other hand, looking at the Xbox, MS needed to lose out on a lot of profits to establish themselves so they'd have a chance at the next generation. In the end, neither of these companies care about you, just your dollars. If we could all just keep this in mind...there would be no fanboys :P

I don't expect the DS game to look any different.

Thanks for the link. Why wouldn't it look any different btw? And the two handhelds can co-exist. Though due to the next-gen bringing rising R&D costs to studios, & ultimately higher profitability margins allowed by the DS, (as I stated earlier) when the next-gen gets into full swing I can see the DS maintaining the bulk of the 3rd party support, while the PSP's may taper off. The financial risks are simply far less.

This is very true, I beieve Nintendo my listen to fan feedback moreso than the others, but in the end you're absolutely correct. This is a business, nothing more.

It's not even just about the visuals, ya know...

I don't think Nintendo holds back the industry, though. I mean, take the GC, for example...

The hardware was very well designed, quite powerful, and a pleasure to use...yet it really failed to catch on.

Grown men crying because a console/handheld does well. This forum has sunk to a new low....

And your more pathetic then the Nintendo retards you "crusade" against and you know if somebody made that same statement but inserted the PSP instead you'd buttfuck them to next Tuesday about it along with the rest of this board.

So what are the DS sales figures with that Puppy game going to do to you this week? Put you on suicide watch? :lol :lol :lol :lol
