NateTheHate: Final Fantasy VII Remake Part 3 Will Simultaneously Launch on All Platforms

Makes sense to do so now that the first two parts are elsewhere.

Rebirth deserved to sell better. Obviously wasn't down to only being on PS, but maybe due to the first part rubbing a lot of fans the wrong way. I loved it, but that was mainly down to seeing my childhood game coming to life with a modern coat of paint and high production values. As an actual "game", I'm not going to say it was amazing. It wasn't. I found Rebirth however, fantastic.

That means there's a lot way to go then as Remake just launched and who knows if Rebirth is even 2026. I was hoping part 3 would release a little sooner.

Wonder if parts of the game will be downgraded or modified in order to get it to run on the Switch 2, which will then compromise the PS5/PC version.

Interesting that they didn't have any pre-emptive exclusivity contract on Sony's part, or maybe Square paid it off or something to have the game launch simultaneously, if true.

As an owner of all platforms.....I'll pass.

Them staying on UE4 for part 3 should make switch2 port a no brainer when you dont have ressource hogs like lumen and nanite, just scale the shit out of it with DLSS.

Square made an incredible game with Rebirth, but completely screwed up the optimization. Now, developing for three platforms, I expect things to be even worse.

I'd be surprised. Mainly because even the Switch 2 sales of Remake are a little worse than I expected plus they seem to be having difficulty with Rebirth. I'm sure the XBox sales are close to zero.

So PC and SW2 day one as well.
I guess part 2 is a given for SW2 now?
Nintendo being a platform for Final Fantasy 7 in 2026 definitely means a lot to me.
"Switch 2 is a very appealing platform and a great piece of hardware," Hamaguchi said. "That said, compared to other consoles, the specs are a little bit on the lower-end side. I have seen a lot of other publishers struggling to get their games to work very smoothly on the Nintendo Switch 2. But considering that this is a trilogy, and Remake being the first title within it, I really wanted to make sure that we are conveying that quality to Nintendo players for them to understand just how great Final Fantasy 7 Remake is."
"At this point, we have gotten the game built," Hamaguchi said. "Our engineers are working hard to optimize and to provide the final polish on the build. I'm hoping that we'll be able to provide more information on Rebirth in the very near future. Compared to the first title, the world map is a lot larger, so there is no doubt that it's a more challenging production process. But our engineers are very passionate about the work that they're doing, so I'm confident that we'll be able to deliver."

It's going to be difficult to decide to play on PC or PS5 given that I have the other two entries on PS5 and while I liked them I don't think I'll play them again so not worth it to double dip.

I wonder if this means that the games will be less optimized since they have to make sure the game is rdy for all the platforms instead of just focusing on playstation and than pc

The hype was real 15 years ago. Remember those days? I find it kind of funny. I find it kind of sad. The dreams in which I'm dying are the best I've ever had. Mad world.

And it will likely sell less then what the previous outings sold. Those games have obsolete gameplay (EDIT: talking mainly about combat).

When you compare this to Nioh or E33 (or even some previous FF), the combat of those FF games is so bad: shallow, and messy.

My god, stop smoking, FFR and Rebirth gameplay is light years ahead E33.

Nioh is totally other genre, no sense comparing them.

I enjoyed E33 but when people say stupid shit like this it actually makes me hate E33.

Rebirth was the GOTG until KCD2 rudely took that away. Cant wait for Part3. Have a feeling the entire 3-part series will hit 20M sold before the end of the decade.

Can't wait to fly the Highwind around.

If Square have to pay 100% of adversiting... it's 100% its fault or sucess if the game meet its expectations... and given they will not thrown away that stupid stagger system... im not so sure

The combat is literally the best part of the Remake series tho, real time action with ATB, the mix of these two was executed well in Remake and made even better in Rebirth with party synergy skills. E33 has nothing on this one, hopefully SE keeps this system for FF17, it feels like the true evolution of Final Fantasy.

It was clear this was the plan since they announced Remake for the Switch 2. Very bad news for Sony. Almost no one is willing to make exclusive deals with them anymore and their first party alone doesn't cut it.

I was talking specifically about combat.

Me too, E33 system is a version of FFX but with QTE/Parties in each and every enemy attack and without the depth of the former. FF7 R and Rebirth combat is way, way, way better.

Each combat in Rebirth is delicious and you battle with joy, try new things, materia and weapons system it has a incredible depth. While in E33 early on I wanted to strangle each and every Sandfall developer because the itch in my fingers having to dodge/parry each enemy attack.
