Today, NBA 2K23 developer 2K Games announced that the Arcade Edition of the famous basketball sim will release on Apple Arcade on October 18 this year. 2K Games has recently released its newest game NBA 2K23 with multiple editions and on multiple platforms.

While the game’s mobile version is released as a yearly content update in NBA 2K Mobile, 2K is releasing NBA 2K23: Arcade Edition exclusively on Apple Arcade.

NBA 2K23: Arcade Edition will bring a new exclusive game mode called The Greatest. Players can play as 20 basketball legends like Kevin Durant, Dirk Nowitzki, Devin Booker, Shaquille O’Neal, Michael Jordan, Luka Doncic, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, and many more in this game mode. Other available game modes in NBA 2K23: Arcade Edition is:

• MyCAREER: Start a new NBA journey with a new customized player. Start from a young rookie to an NBA legend. Players can customize their players with Nike, Jordan, or Adidas apparel before practicing drills on the new outdoor MyCOURT.
• Association Mode: Players can become the GM or Head Coach of their favorite NBA franchise and build their dream team according to their choice.
• Quick Match: Players can pick their favorite NBA teams and compete against others in a 5v5 basketball game. In the Blacktop Mode, they can also play street basketball in 1v1, 3v3, or 5v5 games.
• Online Multiplayer: Players can choose from 30 NBA teams and compete against their friends or random players in real-time PvP basketball online matches.

NBA 2K23 will also feature commentary from real-life NBA pundits​

For the first time, mobile players will get commentary from real-life NBA analysts, such as Kevin Harlan, Brian Anderson, Greg Anthony, Grant Hill, and Doris Burke. NBA 2K23 Arcade Edition will be available on Apple Arcade for a monthly subscription price of $4.99 with a one-month free trial.

It has gotten to the point where weaker mobile ports of console games will have exclusive features not seen in the console version. Of course most people who play sports games are still going to play one consoles despite this, but It's a bad trend that for sure features that would be in the console version any other time, are suddenly missing, and those features end up exclusive to the mobile port. When you're paying $60-$70 for console games you expect everything to be there, but the trend of taking features from the game to have exclusive on mobile is all negative imo.

To be fair Apple has been pushing Apple Arcade hard recently.
