Today, my boys, Miami University won 35-8 over Quinnipiac in the NCAA tournament. I love aluminum.

Yesterday's 'Who the Fuck wants to play an NCAA baseball game' comment inspired me. So just in case anyone else wants to follow along the tournament, we can discuss it here.

For the beginners, the NCAA baseball tournament starts with 64 teams. These teams are split up into 16 groups of 4 and mini tournaments are held. This is the stage we're in right now.

Next weekend, the 16 regional champions will face off in a 'best of three' Super Regional. The 8 winners advance to the College World Series.

Well after beating Miami yesterday (sorry Barney), Arkansas is currently up 6-0 on Texas. College World Series here we come!

My Gamecocks beat Michigan yesterday but fell to GT today. It's been a down year for us, but the advantage of having a streaky team is that there's still hope for a good three-game run.

Ping! I just got in from the championship game of the Oxford, Miss. regional, won by the Ole Miss Rebels over Oklahoma 20-5. The Ole Miss Rebels advance to an Oxford, Miss. super regional to be played next weekend. Good times.

Yeah, great weekend for UF. They won all three matches (Stetson, UNC, Notre Dame) and now can rest up for their Super Regional with FSU this coming weekend (which I hope I'll be able to see on TV unlike this past weekend of college baseball *argh*). I guess it's just as well that they play FSU since they need to get revenge for that last loss to FSU in the rubber game at McKethan Stadium during the regular season. Come on UF! Dash FSU's hopes while advancing to Omaha! How sweet that would be!

FSU-UF Super Regional in Hogtown. Doesn't get much better than this.*

* - Actually, it does. 2000, FSU-UM Super Regional back when I was a student. This was the same year we had the 17-inning game at Dick Howser, which was simply the best baseball I will ever see. The Super Regional was a nice contest, nasty June Tallahassee weather and all.

which is why I said just getting to the CWS would be an accomplishment. Im not going to say we *cant* do it, because we shouldnt have beaten FSU a couple of years back, but we did to get back to the CWS.. we have talent and the best coach in the NCAA.. but we are certainly not the better team... our offense has been way to sporadic as of late for me to give us a decent shot at winning.

Just glad we didnt lose to the piggies.
