This new feature enables you to play up on the ball and pressure the man with the ball in a way where you can actually attempt to dictate his movement. Here is a quick breakdown of how it works: While using your left analog stick to maneuver in front of the dribbler, you press down on the right analog stick to get even closer in an aggressive defensive stance. Once you've put your body in front of the dribbler, you again use the left analog stick to stay in front of him as he tries to free himself up, all the while holding down on the right analog stick to stay up on him. If your player is a good defender, this will force the dribbler to the sidelines or into a double team, giving your team the advantage when it comes to swiping the ball and forcing a turnover. It's really one of those risk/reward scenarios because if you're playing too aggressive and you fail to anticipate where the dribbler is going to take the ball, he could leave you in the dust with a crossover as you go right with the Lockdown Stick and he goes left for the dunk.

Looks interesting. But from past EA first gen innovations(Fight Night Haymaker, NCAA 05 Floor General, NCAA Football Home Field Advantage etc.) it looks like this could be a good feature in the second revision of the mechanic. Good idea though, but probably clunky implementation

The Haymaker in FN is the reason I stopped playing online

I stopped playing Fight Night Online for the same reason IceBreezy. I hope this "Lockdown Stick" turns out well, but I will not be surprised if it doesn't.

Sounds awesome. If there was anything that needed improvement in videogame basketball controls, it was giving the defense interesting things to do... well.. that and good post up play controls.

Basketball defense is so engrossing to play in real life, and good anticipation and reaction are rewarded with results. It's just a shame that in videogames all you really do is stay in front of the guy and sometimes press a button to try to steal, capturing nothing of the mental feel of defense. If they're feeling really generous, you can press something to put your arms up into the air! How interactive!

This is a step in the right direction.

Dsal=Winnar!! Defense is more involved than offense, yet it's an afterthought in videogames.
