Hi gang,

I need your help as I have been experiencing problems trying to overclock my new PC to ideally 3.4 - 3.6ghz. The reason I want to do this as I'll be working heavily with 3D Rendering and HD (1080p and 2K resolution) Video Editing.

I did however attempted to overclock my PC to 3.8ghz from the Bios screen but when I logged into Windows it still highlighted that my clock speed was still 2.67mhz and I also lost 4gigs from my 12gigs Memory. Being heavily concerned about this I reset my BIOS back to Factory default until I know exacty what I need to do to overclock the PC to 3.6mhz and hopefully have all 12gigs memory running at good speed.

Since then, I've been searching around online and I'm afraid that I have been pretty confused as most of the overclocking instructions are in consideration of having a Water Cooler or bring the machine to over 4ghz which is something I do not want to do.

Here's is my CPU specs in order to figure out the problem:

Please let me know what would be the best way to do this.

Thanks!

The memory issue. If that Intel chip is 32-bit, each core will only see 4GB each. You need to get 64-bit processor if you need to use more than 4GB of memory.

As for the CPU, I would not recommend overclocking it.

Thanks. I'm going to put Windows 7 64-bit on this machine.

Any direct instruction on how to increase it to 3.6ghz with my specs? In fact, with the specs I got is it safe for me to OC it to 3.6ghz or should I focus more on 3.4ghz?

THe more direct info, the better.
