Need some help here (video related)

IIRC, you could do 1 of 2 things...

1. Use a Flash to AVI converter. I know that they're out there, but I haven't seeked them out since around 4 years ago, so I can't tell you which ones are good.

2. Play the Flash video and record the monitor (the region the video's playing at) with CamStudio, which is free and awesome, but a little annoying to set up.

Personally, I'd go with the Flash to AVI converter. However, if you can't find a good one, or are having no success with a converter, I can record the movie and upload it somewhere for you when I wake up.

Why would you do that? said:

I have tried the Flash to AVI thing before, but the movie uses actionscript so it doesn't translate well. Recording the screen sounds like the best way. Will it do a decent job w/audio? If you could record it that would be excellent! :O

Many thanks.

There are two free converters that should be able to take your FLV and convert it with ease. One is SUPER (my personal favorite) and the other is All to AVI. I haven't used All to AVI in a while, so I'm not 100% sure if it'll convert Flash, but considering its name it should. I convert Flash to AVI and other formats all the time using SUPER, though, so that's a safe bet.

Yes... It records whatever audio the computer outputs at whatever sample rate you want, I think.

FLV files are video files, and many converters support flv conversion. However, he's talking about an SWF, a Flash animation/application.

The only problem with converting the vid as opposed to recording on the screen (not sure why I never thought of that) is that it's not actually an FLV; it's a SWF. And being that it uses script, some of the animation is not encoded.
