I originally asked for help in the PC building thread, but it got overlooked. Figured I would just make my own thread instead. I recently bought a usb wireless adapter (Xtreme N Dual Band USB Adapter) and it gets really poor data transfer rates/reception. My router is a Netgear N150, it's located in the living room of my apartment, my PC is in the first bedroom down the hall from it (maybe 30-40 feet?). The router isn't being obstructed or anything, it's out in the open. The usb adapter isn't being obstructed either, my desktop is on top of the desk, not in a hideaway cabinet. So, I've come to the conclusion that the antenna on this usb adapter just sucks for my particular apartment layout and I might need a internal card with a stronger antenna. Can anyone recommend me a PCI wireless router card or a USB wireless adapter with a stronger antenna? One that you can vouch for? So far I'm thinking about going with this (http://www.microcenter.com/single_pr...uct_id=0313727) unless someone convinces me otherwise.

I want to bump your thread for my own benefit OP, if that's okay with you.

I want to replace my laptop's wireless card as it's busted, would this be a good replacement?

What's a difference between an adapter and a card other than this connecting via USB?

Poor guy probably didn't buy a wireless card yet lol.

This is a good option for you, just make sure you can fit it with your case (cause of the 3 antenna taking up space)

As far as I know Eggman, USB is slower than PCI. However the bottleneck is in the ISP and wireless network so they should perform pretty much if not exactly the same. I think. PCI would probably be cheaper as well, so as long as you have the know how i'd choose that over USB.
