Neil Druckmann x Colin Moriarty (The Man Who Wears Many Hats | Sacred Symbols+, Episode 457)

I'll save your time

Listening now. A great get, but I wish it was more focused on gaming and ND, instead of the HBO show which I don't care about at all.

Colin getting some pretty big PS faces recently, with Yoshida a few weeks back and now Druckers.

And Ken Levine. And Jonathan Blow.

Amazing the pull he has. People like Gerstmann and the old GB guys can't get shit anymore. I really wanna know how all those bridges got burnt.

I love LSM, and enjoy Colin's takes generally.

But his bias is always grossly blatant when it comes to this studio, and even in particular, this guy in specific.

Colin's a decent-sort when it comes engaging in the culture warrior stuff, but he loses all his credibility with ND and Neil. Just see his takes on TLOU2 and how he says there was/is no agenda…

I give Colin a pass on this. You need to keep good connections in this industry, especially if you have ever been ostracized and like him or not Druck gets everything early.

Oh sure - I'm with you. I get the game, I just dislike the bias as it feels overly….what do the kids say now…glaze-worthy.

Nice get for Colin.
He was saying on recent podcast episodes that Sony seems to be more open to working with him again.

Not too interested in this since, as others have said, he is a massive ND and Neil fanboy. But some people at Era are probably fuming over this, so I can't complain lol.

Its never been a secret that those two get along, but it's nice to see that the whole "cancel culture" shit isn't stopping him (colin) from getting these guests.

glad to see the tides are changing , ever so subtly.

We all have our blind spots. I remember him being angry during the live show when fans voted the game like 8 or whatever in the top ps4 list.

I stopped listening to SS because it's like four hours of mindless rambling nonsense and I don't think that one guy brings much to the show. The guy who likes halo more than any PlayStation franchise

Colin not engaging in more tired culture war nonsense is one of the things I respect about him. He can have valid criticisms about certain controversial things without jumping full on the culture war obsessed train. I think many of the criticisms about Druckmann are misplaced.

Yeah, it's been pretty known that him and Neil are friends and have been since the IGN days.

I'm happy to see that the bullshit has blown over enough for people to come on.

I was worried that even Shu wouldn't come on as there was no signs of it when he was doing the first rounds of interviews after leaving PlayStation as Shu and Colin have also been close the entire time.

Colin hinted in one of the semi recent podcasts that his relationship with Sony had changed and that he might have some access again so maybe this is the first product of that as I think he said he was more interested in doing interviews then getting normal access.

I still gotta finish the most recent SS but I'll definitely check this out.

I just know this thread will be full of haters many of which probably hate him because they are too caught up in the woke hate train.

Chris?

I think Chris brings a lot to the shows because he isn't really that huge of a PlayStation guy.

The problem with a lot of gaming podcasts is people with limited viewpoints IMO. This was a problem with even my beloved Podcast Beyond to a point BEYOND! and basically all platform based podcasts. Beyond was great but it lacked something that made it interesting to people outside of the core fan base as everybody was essentially PlayStation only people (now I'm only talking about what I would consider the golden days of Beyond which is Colin, Greg, Goldfarb, and Ryan Celements). Last Stand's Xbox podcast has this same issue.

Colin is the I only play on and focus on PlayStation guy (he's known to be a prior Nintendo fanboy and still loves Nintendo even if he doesn't really play it anymore and is a big Gears fan). Chris is essentially an old Xbox guy that now plays everywhere. Dustin is also multiplatform but seems to play more on PC then anything nowadays.

I get why people would want all the hosts to focus on the platform but I like that while they all play on PS they all have different viewpoints and all play different types of games.

Neil Druckmann the guy who simultaneously had nothing to do with TLOU1 and Uncharted 4 being good but had all the power to overthrow more senior people in the company?

Yeah colin wrote the history of naughty dog article on ign ages ago that is pretty well known

I remember a while back when Colin specifically mentioned having a great relationship with Druckman but, that he could never come on the show bcuz he might get cancelled. Love to see it.
I know retardera is pissed. But i think they pretend Colin doesn't exist over there. So technically it should just be business as usual over there 🤣🤣

You're upset that he doesn't share the same opinion as you on TLOU2. Get over it!

Totally agree!

Yup, a few years ago this conversation would have been unthinkable.

Colin was considered an untouchable right wing / far right bigot. Druckmann the darling of the left in the industry.

Them having a conversation wouldn't have gone down well with either of their respective fans and followers. So this normalisation, shift in the overton window and them having a chat is a great thing and a return to how things used to be and should be.

Definitely not upset…I guess I should apologize for having an opinion of my own based on the many hours I've watched/listened to his commentary on the game, studio and my own perspective having played and experienced the title(s) multiple times;

I think it's great Neil is finally "allowed" to chat with Colin- and I think Colin, despite whatever my useless opinion on his takes regarding the series and Neil are, is obviously entitled to whatever feelings he has. I am also entitled to mine.

seems like you could take your own advice.

As woke as Druckmann clearly is, I respect him for being open minded enough to keep his friendship with Colin. Based on the chat at the start, it was also him who pressured Sony PR into working with Last Stand again.

Good interview, but 99% about the TV show which is understandable at this point.

True, but sad that it took 8 years since leaving Kinda Funny to "pressure" Sony.

As much as I like Colin and most of his content, I feel like given the chance he would rawdog Neil like in that certain famous TLOU2 boat scene.

I do find it interesting Playstation let that happen, as he's been considered persona non grata with them for years now.

Gonna listen to it either way, even if I do expect glazing.

Arguably the best part of the show is the mindless rambling but each to their own

Colin is such a mindless Sony apologist that he'll invite someone who thinks holding Colin's views is a hate crime just because he has a position at Sony. Too much cult mentality all around

This is how I know people don't actually listen to him.

Colin is far from a Sony apologist. He hasn't been afraid to criticize Sony for years even back during his time on podcast beyond.

Just because he focuses on one platform doesn't mean he's a mindless fanboy.

yup, he shovels a lot of shit in sony's way when he feels it's deserved - he's been very consitent on that

Tell me you don't actually listen to Colin's podcasts without telling me you don't actually listen to Colin's podcasts

He is literally the epitome of a Sony fanboy. He casts off any other platform because it isn't a playstation.

I like Colin a lot to be honest. I respect him. He makes good content and does give Sony shit when it's deserved.

The issue is he takes every opportunity, no matter how good something might be to shit on Xbox, Nintendo and PC to the point he is often downright wrong and extreme with his statements.

I'd still rather listen to him any time of the day vs the Kinda Funny squad.

It's more like I don't think Chris ever has anything interesting to say.

can you give some examples of this
