You could do both, I'm cutting my LF down an option then putting the fiver I save there to a Netflix sub.

I just looked into this and the only lower option I could choose is to remove the games. Seems like they don't offer a 1 disc at a time option any more.

Interesting, so it does. Unfortunately though it's an LLU product, which means it isn't available everywhere. For example in my area the only Sky broadband product I could get is Sky Broadband Connect, which has a usage cap of 40GB. Currently we subscribe to Zen Internet's 200GB product, which costs up the wazoo (though it's not so bad when split between 3 people - I live in a shared house) but at least provides us the kind of usage we need.

It is unfortunate you are not in an LLU area, I went from having only 3 mobile Internet dongle with horrendous latency and a 15 gig cap (try play psn or xbox live or even YouTube streaming on that) for over a year that cost me £15 a month......

...... I then moved across town and found out I was in an LLU area, I get 15 down and 1 up with around 40ms ping for £20 (including line rental cost and telephone) a month.

I have had really shit Internet and been fortunate enough to get decent Internet for a good price with no restrictions.

It really is pot luck depending on your location.

I have sky broadband and it works pretty great with Netflix in my area. The streaming goes up to medium/HD, and it looks pretty great. Also the PS3 app works well.

How do you get this? I don't see it on the list of packages I can choose from. There is only a £9.99 two disks a month option and then more expensive ones from there.

Most ISPs advertise "unlimited" as a selling point these days. That doesn't mean they actually are unlimited or that they have no caps. Make sure you check the small print and 99% of the time you will find a cap or, even worse, a reference to some nebulous "Fair Usage Policy" which basically means "we won't tell you what the cap is but we'll kick you off when you exceed it".

And while your statement that none of the ISPs you've been on uses caps is not true, it's definitely the case that many ISPs make this information very hard to find.

I'm with Virgin have had no problems with caps, Virgin doesn't actually have a limit for downloads in month in which if you go over you get a fine.

The way it works is they have times in a day that they measure how much you download, if you go over that limit they Throttle your bandwith for a set time.

The limits are different on which ever pakage you are on.

I am on XL 30mb which let me download 10gb from 10am-3pm and 5GB from 4pm-9pm. If I go over those limits they throttle me by 75%, and that would mean they limit my internet to 7.5mb for 5 hours instead of 30mb.

Not really that bad, its hard to go over those limits for normal surfing. I think its designed to stop being constantly downloading stuff off the web.

And the thing with Virgin is that if you are in a cabled area you get the full speed almost all the time, I have tested my internet multiple times and I get 30mb dl and 3mb up.

Virgin annouced yesterday that they are updgrading their internet services over the next couple of months, I will be upgraded 60mb for free and my throttle limits will be doubled too.

That’s the thing many people don’t seem to understand about Virgin, they hear about throttling and automatically assume its just a general thing rather then just during those specific times.

When I was on 20mb I was always going over during that time yet the base speed I was still getting would be more than enough for general stuff online, hell even gaming is still fine. Now that im on 50mb I never worry about any of that and just do whatever I want.

The news about getting the free upgrade is fantastic though, means by next year I will be on 100mb for £35 p/m which I think is a pretty damn great deal, hell even for 50mb that’s a good price compared to what others charge. Also like yourself I always get my full speed meaning when downloading I get about 6.5 MB/s, will be looking forward to 13 MB/s next year.

For me I have never had a problem with Virgin and wouldn’t think of changing any time soon.
