Netflix is negotiating for "Soul Soul Soul: The Murray Murray Story", a new mockumentary with Murphy as the only cast star.

Murphy will play Murray Murray, a legendary soul singer from the early 1960s, in a docu about his life. Murray Murray, a legend in his own mind, puts his old band back together and tries to take down hip-hop when a hot artist samples his hit song from 1962.

Great news, right? The logline even sounds good. Guess who's directing...?

The package has Brett Ratner directing a script by Chris Case, with Brian Grazer and Tyler Mitchell producing.

Yes, Brett Ratner, whose last really good movie may have just been Rush Hour or Rush Hour 2, director of such cinematic masterpieces like "X-Men: The Last Stand", "Tower Heist", and 1/15 of "Movie 43". The screenwriter co-wrote all of Season 2 of FX comedy "Legit", as well as a Crackle show "Sin City Saints." Get hype..?

Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.
I was expecting a Ratner-inspired mockumentary. Shrimp cocktail would figure prominently

I've never found Ratner that bad of a director. Competent but never really excels imo.

If this movie means Murphy will be dropping f-bombs galore then cool.

Supersonic, idiotic, disconnecting, not respecting, who would really ever wanna go and top that
So Eddie Murphy in old age makeup and directed by Brett Ratner. Having a hard time getting excited about this. Might be nice to have Eddie back, but I think this will really depend on the writing and how committed Eddie is to the role. If they let him go off script a little, that might be worth a watch from me.

Forreal. He's like a 5 or 6/10 director. Not horrible like people say but rarely churning out good films

This could be fun though. I miss Eddie Murphy doing a non family comedy.
