Netflix Pulls the Advanced Dungeons & Dragons episode of Community

In this episode of the Dan Harmon-created series, the study group gets together to play a game of “D&D” with fellow Greendale student “Fat Neil” (played by Charley Koontz). Chang shows up to the game wearing a white wig, with black makeup covering all of his exposed skin. When Shirley (Yvette Nicole Brown) says, “So, we’re just going to ignore that hate crime, huh?” Chang responds, “I’m a dark elf or a drow.” Chang proceeds to play the game dressed that way, acting as the character “Brutalitops, The Magician,” until he is killed and eliminated.

Sony Pictures Television, the studio behind “Community,” declined TheWrap’s request for comment on the episode’s removal from Netflix, or if it will now request the episode be taken down on other platforms, like Hulu, as well. Representatives for Harmon did not immediately respond to TheWrap’s request.

Sigh.....drow as black people is being FORCED at this point. Are orcs in WoW to only be voiced by black people now? It's like a self-fulfilling SJW prophecy.

I fully expect tanning beds to be targeted next....

I think they should just ban all media made before 2020, and get it over with already. Banning things piecemeal is tiresome.

As soon as D&D and blackface was mentioned in the same sentence, I knew Drow had to be involved. I've never really watched Community, but I'll take people's word for it that this episode is hilarious.

For fucks sake, he's playing a goddamn dark elf in the game. And yes, his makeup looks ridiculous, which I think was the whole point. It's a fucking comedy where people are allowed to take things to an absurd level. Or so I thought. I guess Clown World won't allow such standards anymore.

On a related note, I'm glad Netflix hasn't pulled the episodes of Monty Python's Flying Circus featuring sketches with several of the cast in blackface. The Jungle Restaurant sketch in particular has Michael Palin in blackface waiting on people in said restaurant while the patrons are killed by animals and the local natives. LOL Starts at 11:05.

When Shirley (Yvette Nicole Brown) says, “So, we’re just going to ignore that hate crime, huh?” Chang responds, “I’m a dark elf or a drow.”

I mean Shirley knew it was a hate crime back in 2011 guys lol.

This just shows you how retarded and fragile they are. This joke was written by a lefty, and is about how you can't do this in our culture. It's primarily a visual gag and works on that level, but Shirley's comment informs us that polite society considers this a serious faux pas. To me it feels like the left has completely lost it's ability to educate with humour, it prefers lecturing now

Truly ridiculous. Mind boggling to see this happening.

Me and my black girlfriend at the time laugh our asses from the start to finish in this episode. Along with the anti-drug theater, it is our favorite episode!

What is next? They will edit Pierce Hawthorne out of the show?

A small percentage of people have problems with these episodes and love the fact the video is being removed, it comes down to comedy offending some and amusing some.

is it the fact that he used black makeup? like if they chose purple it would be fine?

or is it the fact that shirley misunderstands the makeup and addresses it as blackface that makes it racist? like the fact that its bringing light to the issue? if they never made the gag there would be no issue?

I was fucked up on pks at the time, but I thought that was one of the best episodes of any show ever.
There were no bad intentions with that character, and it's a shame that we have to go so far, but we brought it on ourselves.

Every fucking year we see pricks in blackface, and the most common defense is "I didn't know."

Well, now you do.

This just underscores the importance of owning your media. Sail the high seas if you have to, but find you favorite movies and shows and hang on to them.

Black People: Arrest and charge the cops who murder our people
MSM: We've got a street renamed to BLM
Black People: OK, so the cops...
MSM: We're removing ANY trace of an actor wearing blackface or black make up
Black People: Ehhh, so the cops...
MSM: We're getting rid of Aunt Jemima syrup because of its racist past!
Black People: BUT THE COPS...
MSM: White voice actors are stepping down from roles where they voiced characters who were black
Black People: Look, the main issue is the cops!
MSM: We've removed older movies from streaming services because they come from the racist past
Black people: THE FUCKING COPS!!!!!
MSM: YES, you're right, we've heard you, ...we'll remove the cops from Twitter

it's a good question tho

LOL, there's no way that the 3 of you are that dense. This is some dumb plan to get me to insult your intelligence so that I get banned.

You're already doing a great job of that all by yourselves, so there's no need for me to pile on.

I'll even help out: My post didn't end where the quote ended. I didn't imply anything because I used the other sentences to conclude my thoughts.
