Here is my situation-
I live in student housing that only lets you register one computer, so I've never been able to go online w/ X-Box or PS2. Someone suggested a workaround so right now I have this USB Ethernet Adapter- http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16833129127 and this crossover cable- http://www.newegg.com/Product/CustratingReview.asp?item=N82E16812117834. I've got the Adapter drivers are all loaded up and I plugged the cable in and then into my X-Box, but when I try to run Live it tells me Cables Connected (yes!!), but that the network gateway could not be reached, failing at the "IP Not Confirmed" stage. I tried entering in all my IP/subnet/DNS info into the X-Box but that didn't help. Do I have to do something on my computer?
What do I need to get this to work!?
Muchos gracias to anyone who can get me any closer to going online, as you can surely tell I don't know shit about networking.
