new and improved Frame City Killer trailer

Yes, very much so

The sheer number of people is impressive (And works, unlike other games who seem to be taking the "Toss a bunch of shit on the screen quick")

I wonder how much is descructable.

Hopefully the tremendous amount of jaggies are cause of the dev kit or something though

EDIT:

Yes its not out yet, don't yell at me

I know it's a huge improvement and good job on taking the initiative of posting a separate post for this. All media for a certain game should have its own thread, imo. It's going to get lost through all that fanboyish mess in those dedicated summit threads. They are a mess.

The game has made a huge improvement. The shadows in the that crowd look great and so does the destructible stuff. I liked the music from the trailer as well.

I could've sworn those screens were released before.

Anyways, I already commented in the other thread but the new FCK trailer is a huge improvement over the old one (not really graphically, though the animations were much better). I thought the shadowing on that huge crowd was awesome.

And it seems the name has been shortened to Frame City.

Edit: and now I will keep thinking FCK is FUCK

Anyone write a firefox script to change FCK to Frame City Killers

Someone didn't finish the trailer (or start it?) :)

edit: I see what you mean on the website. Weird, cause the trailer says Frame City Killer at the beginning and end. Maybe it was a real recent change..

In the trailer, it clearly shows and says Frame City Killer and at the end has the logo with Frame City Killer but if you go to Namco's website for the game, it's different. On there, they removed Killer from the logo.

Edit: Damn, you edited your original post.

I hope the name's still Frame City Killer, I like it a lot better. That trailer is really good, too.

This trailer just says Frame City at the end. Which trailer mentions FCK?

The IGN insider one, which I guess must be the American verison :)

If it's pre-rendered they did a really shitty job because at the start one pedestrian walks through another...looks ingame (obviously without final collision detection) to me.

And it looks awesome, cant wait for a GTA that looks as good as the city scenes in this trailer.

Im still not really expecting much from the game itself but the technology behind it has me excited for next gen.

them tell me why the crowd scene looks A LOT BETTER than the shoot scene with the cars and the other scene where they escape on the run
the change is evident on the scene where the black guys aim at you, then u can see some black guys shooting who look a lot worse than the first ones, renders are not always top quality, some use the in game models to make transitions better

From where it zooms in to the orange outline view to where the better shot of the guy in the mask is looks partially pre-rendered (you can see that the NPCs do look like ingame models walking around, but the guy in the mask looks higher quality than the ingame model), but before the camera goes into the first person view the scene looks identical in quality to the 'car' scene (as you called it) just with more NPCs. (to me anyway)

I agree with that actually. You can really see a difference when the camera pan's through the city with all the people. The cut scenes obviously have a higher poly count over in game too. When it actually gets to show you some ingame stuff, it disappoints. I really can't expect this to be any better than something like True Crime. Looks rank.

Yes. True Crime with a higher number of pedestrians is what came to mind.

I think this still needs a lot of work, but if anything, it just shows how the immersion is going to skyrocket merely by having more life-like, populated environements. Yeah, the fighting 100's of guys thing is getting kind of cliche for all of these games next gen, but I think it provides huge implications as far as immesion and atmosphere.

Well, i'll agree that the city fly over was far better looking then pretty much the whole trailer combined, hopefully thats what most of the game will be like, and hopefully it was not prerendered video sequences in the game.

I haven't seen the first trailer so I can't comment on supposedly how much better this looks but the trailer as a whole I did not find very impressive. Looks good but nothing about that video makes me feel like I need to even consider buying it until I see lots of reviews. And some of the character models looks like the game was ported from Xbox to 360 with more polygons and better textures instead of built from the ground up on the hardware. In fact a lot of early 360 games look like that except for maybe games like 99 Nights, GOW and PGR3.

The parts with lots of people look good, but the closeups are pretty weak, in my opinion. The shooting scene, the scene with the characters and even the alley scene (sans exploding box) all look lame compared to the scenes with lots of people. The character models are pretty low-poly and the surface textures are rather low res. Looking more forward to almost any other game graphics-wise at this point.

Pedestian Processing for the HD Era!

personally im much more impressed by the number of characters on screen because that could actually improve the gameplay experience unlike advanced lighting techniques and shaders which change nothing but the asthetics

Well, in the case of the vast number of people, the lighting was also superior... which once again points towards the FMV possiblity.

ItÂ’s probably the target and what they want to achieve. If you think about that's what Unreal 3.0 engine is all about!

btw There were large numbers of people on screen in the original trailer too!

looks great!

Over the market place? No no, check it out again. Its real time, check the people trying to avoid each other. It looks awkward, they just shift to a different angle when walking rather than turning also people are walking through each other, theres some major clipping happening. Flaws of real time gameplay

Yeah that has to be real time. I also noticed the very awkward walking animations. Or maybe thats just part of the bigger plan, insert errors into CG video to fool people :P

its not rare from fmv with low polys on some game, they just use walking rutines from the game and models and put in a fmv with better framerate and effects

the in game ( supossely the car shootout and halley run) lots a lot worse than the crowd scene, specially the lighting

dont get me wrong,im interested on this game ( anything freeroaming interest me) and saints row,but its evident that the trailers use some sort of fmv on the crowd scene
