PC fps looks ALOT better. Its the damage and destruction that is nice about this game.
I disagree.

They DO look better, no doubt about it, but this is suprsingly close considering the hardware. I've also heard that Black runs at 60 fps.

If you look closely at any single detail, you'll obviously see that it isn't near the best PC FPS titles...but when simply moving through the world and taking in the entire picture, it stands up really well. It also should not suffer from a lot of the technical flaws common with PC games (like HL2's stuttering bullshit).

every screenshot looks the damn same
They do seem to be from the same areas, but if you REALLY want to see an example of "EVERYTHING LOOKS THE SAME", go play FEAR. You'll be saying "Have I been here already?" throughout the entire game.

On a side note, did anyone check out the new XBOX Half-Life 2 videos? It looks fantastic! I can't believe how close it looks to the PC version in motion (and hell, they even added some new lighting effects). The best part is, there is NO stuttering, NO pausing, and no other bullshit that the PC version had. I still can't completely escape the stuttering. If it turns out that the XBOX verison features fast load times (like XBOX Doom 3), I may actually buy that version as well. It won't look as good, obviously, but the experience might be more even overall.

The pillars there remind me a lot of the geomod stuff in Red Faction. It was hyped quite a lot and turned out to be very dissapointing.

why do the old shots and the new shots look the same.
it reminds me of nfs:u wet road syndrome.
variety, please!

They've been showing off the same few areas, though. They all look the same because they ARE the same...

I hope this doesn't suffer from "FEAR-itus"... >_<

It looks fantastic; I can't wait to get my hands on this one.

I have to admit, though - I find it disappointing that the bullets seem to have an incredible visual and physical impact on absolutely everything except the enemies themselves. For a game that's supposed to convey the power of weapons and the effect bullets have when they connect, the video released so far looks awfully tame and sanitized in that respect. I wonder if it's because EA wants a "T" rating on this one, or if Criterion would've gone bloodless regardless.

Doesnt compare visually. Period. The destruction effects are nice but thats all i see. This should have been a next gen launch title IMO.

Regarding HL2 i dont get any stutter. My framerate hovers over 60fps.

I watched the new trailers earlier today, showing off how you can use the destructable environment to your advantage. Shooting chunks off a stone pillar and having them crush the people below == Awesome.

Current-Gen is Next-Gen.

Criterion: Jaw Dropping Specialists. Seriously, that looks insane, it runs at 60fps REMEMBER THAT, and in a FIVE years old hardware.

Is this game using Renderware?

Since it's Criterion, it pretty has to be, though we all know better than that for it to be so clear cut and dry. Criterion own brand of "renderware" is a different beast than what others are using considering their Burnout games and now this, it probably doesn't resemble standard renderware considering how much it's talked about thier custom coding in the engine.

Well lucky you. HL2 *WAS* fixed for a while, but the update around mid-September f*cked it up again. I almost don't believe you, though. :P Seriously. I've had far too many people say "I don't have any stutter", and then when I ask them to prove it to me, there's f*cking stutter. I'm like "What the hell was that? That was stutter." and they act like I don't know what I'm talking about. -_-

Framerate isn't a problem with HL2, though. That game has awesome framerates. I can play at 1680x1050 and hover around 60 fps most of the time. Lowering the resolution pretty much delivers a near perfect framerate in most situations.

Thats not impressive at all. Generic crap actually. The amount of praise this pos gets is astounding, especially when titles such as Quake 4 get pelted so much.

Quake 4 got pelted because they released some of the worst shots ever that don't properly represent the game.

It was stupid to pimp shots like this...

The game looks so much better while playing and you never really get such a good look at your enemies.

Played this today and it's a lot of fun. Great feedback (audio and visual) when shooting. The detail on the weapons is insane. Grenades are awesome. And the controls are super simple -- I don't think the game uses the X and Triangle buttons at all, actually. Most things are on the triggers.

If Criterion can do for FPS games what Burnout did for racing games (i.e inject a bit of fun), then more power to them.

Ironically, quake 4's already in the thread :P

These screens are shopped to shit. No jaggies? I don't think so.

They do look pretty good though. Too bad they'll be significantly less impressive when playing the game.
