The new $20 bill looks pretty cool (other than the Queen's face).

Yeah, I just got a couple the other day, and I was staring at them on the ride home.. Very pretty. But the 100's.. those are cool too.

I don't know, I'm ok with this quarter's design.

The toonie could be considered multicoloured, since it's two pieces of metal that are different colours, but this is different.

I think the big thing here is that the coin is actually going to be in circulation.

Why doesn't Canada cut off ties to the British Crown? Is tradition really that important?

It would cost more and take more effort to remove the queen as our head of state than it is to leave her there. I don't think she gets any of our money or anything (like how the brits pay for buckingham palace and all that), so we're not really losing anything.

After looking around a bit, we pay for the cost of her visits when she comes (last happened 1982 iirc, to sign our constitution), and we pay for the Governer General, her advisor in the country, and her residence as well, but that doesn't cost much.

I always thought it was adorable the way you guys call your money the "dollar" like it was real money or something.

Well at least we were all smart enough to not name our money Pounds, after the most realist currency in the world.

Soon, it will be again. .8046 yesterday, .8078 today. On the rise towards parity... or should I say, the Yankee dollar is on the plummet into the toilet.

awesome

if it hits 1, i'll be very very happy :)

unfortunately, market sector is really slow at alternating their prices over to match currency changes, so if it ever did hit 1 per 1 USD, by the time they go to change their prices, it will be back down to .60 again :/

So you mean your dollar is getting lower and it will be better for me to go up north and shop?!?

Society: why do you have the CBC logo (I think it is)? Just seems to be an odd choice.

Edit: oh crap nm. I have to shop in Asia then.

Heh I had a logo of Canada's football team in support of the 2006 World Cup. Well we were eliminated, so I wanted to change it. Have not had time to make a new one. So I just used CBC one.

The CBC logo is funny to me, that is how I see lights without my contacts. Street lights look exactly like that.

Are those notes plastic or paper? Could never get used to the feel of paper notes whenever i go overseas... it just doesn't feel like money.

That fucking bitch owns a house next door to mine....It's being rented out to some douchebags who play their awful heavy metal music at 4 am every weeknight.

Where can i get this?

And the first response to say "Canada" gets punched.

The mint where they make the coins is less than 5 minutes away from me, on the edge of Winnipeg, right when you enter the city from the Trans-Canada heading West. You can pick one up there :) I can see the building out the window, it's pretty cool looking itself.

Canadians say "colour"? WTF? Do you say "theatre" and "civilisation", too?

We speak this funny language called "English", devrived from the country of England. They also say "colour". In fact, I believe every English speaking nation in the world uses that spelling. Of course you yanks decided to do your own thing, as you're want to do.

Heh, indeed...the Iraq war and the growing oil crisis are all factors in making our dollar worth a damn, simply by making the US dollar worth shit next to the EU. Guess Bush has been good for something after all.

That quarter owns BTW...I'll probably use it for my avatar a week or two before Rememberance Day.

Colour, favourite, civilisation, mum > color, favorite, civilization, mom

We got plastic money here in NZ too as of about 6 years ago, I can't believe I ever had the paper shit. I love the joy of plastic how it's near impossible to tear, and you can go swimming with the notes right in your togs!

God damn, they're going crazy. You're supposed to spend money, not stare at its pretty colors.

I still want those coins though.

Two years ago actually for her Jubilee celebration. It cost us millions too.
