New Conker: L&R screens

This game makes me wonder why Microsoft's shoving new hardware down our throats. This looks seriously better than any next-gen stuff I've seen to this date.

:lol and what nextgen stuff have you seen that looks worse than this?

Meh,imagine that a Nintenbot agrees with him ;)

Haha, seriously, this is about Conker,no one cares about DS screenshots and how they are talked about.

Then what does that make you? An X-drone? I praise all software, regardless of platform. People are running damage control for Conker's tail of all things, as insignificant as it is. I know for a fact that if the GC was receiving a Conker remake, all the flack it would receive here. (remember the TTS & the many "Why would I buy a game that I played & beat many times over years ago?" comments.) Gotta love the X-GAF hypocrisy machine in motion. Regardless, I stand by what I originally said, the game is in fact beautiful. CGI blim? Been drinking tonight my friend?

Reggie explained this in the TV interview

they're rushing into next gen hardware cuz they're losing alot of money on the current Xbox, cuz it was stupidly designed, so the next console will reduce the losses, and hey, its a next gen console.

so for MS its the right thing to do, business-wise

You haven't seen much then.

^^^ thats sad...

I've never played the N64 game (yeah shoot me), and I was planning on playing this one

EDIT:

chances of almokla getting X360(if bw): 42%

I wasn't talking about polygons, lightning or mapping. Personally, next-gen games that have been shown all look disturbingly static, almost like everything is made out of plastic. This looks much more organic and natural than every next-gen game I've seen so far. I don't know what it is that makes it look that way. I just know it does. It's probably something they picked up under Nintendo's wings.

I had never played the N64 version too, and believe me I'm enjoying every minute of L&R right now. Did I mention the music was excellent too ?

This game is very good looking, but I'm just not feeling the "best looking game this gen" vibe that a lot of people seem to be getting. Eh.

Honestly, you have to see it in motion to really understand how awesome it is. The lighting is just *right*.

I agree, other titles come to mind (XBX & otherwise) before this one.

call me kiddy, gay, whatever you like but I like this type more than the "realistic, scary" ones eg RE, MGS

Blim, how's the frame rate ?
It's very good (30 fps) except for the occasional and rather random drop. It's still a preview so hopefully it will be silky smooth when finalized. As is, it's already very good.

Extra points for Father Ted reference

if the X360 has BC than I have a lot of older game shopping to do.

I would like to play this on my X360 - I got to give RARE props they take a damn long time but wow.

shorter and censored kinda sucks though

This will probably be the last and best game I buy for my XBox unless something shows up at E3. Doubtful though, with MS abandoning the XBox this year...

For once, I'd like to see some real pics. I really doubt the game has 8xFSAA, there should be some jaggies. I fully understand why developers are forced to release doctored, and or enhanced pictures of their games though. And if a game is widescreen, I want to see widescreen pics in the native resolution.

The demo with Jade Empire was REALLY close to this. The game will be one of the best-looking games of this generation. I'm hearing late June on the release, though.

Wish they would hurry the hell up.

Still looks very nice, IMO.

Looks awesome. Too bad Rare didn't focus on getting out an original title.

And I will echo the sentiments that the next Xbox is coming way too quickly.

I guess because the game is hardly "uncut" anymore. The game has more censoring and is said to be shorter than the N64 original.

Are you sure? I heard in an interview, can't remember where so i'll try and find the link, that the reason they changed the name was because they were actually adding new content to the game and therefor not the verbatim cut of the game that was originally expected. Specifically, they were talking about adding stuff that they were unable to put into the original because of time constraints i think, like levels and cinemas.

As far as the censoring, i haven't heard anything, but if they are then that's disapointing.

Disagree especially when they can't even get 60fps racers.

I read somwhere that overall the game was shorter. They added some scenes I am sure, but it probably doesn't make up for scenes they removed.

There was a thread about the game being censored more than the N64 original. People made a big deal about how the words 'twat' and 'shit' were censored in the great mighty poo's song, they weren't censored on the N64. I didn't even know that the word 'twat' was innapropriate.

edit: IGN mentioned the shortened length here: http://xbox.ign.com/articles/603/603594p3.html

"One reason it's a little shorter than before is because, well, the game is actually shorter than before. A few game challenges have been shortened and some removed all-together. Fans of the original may remember the glorious task of swimming through the water attempting to lead an electric eel through three hoops. That's no longer a part of Conker. That's the most notable exclusion, though a few others seem shorter and certainly easier than before. Still, the bulk of gameplay and all of the humor remains.

It's not all about things that were cut free. Conker's single-player does offer a few refreshing additions. Early on, when Conker meets up with a massive stone Gargoyle on a bridge, the solution is to whack the Gargoyle with a newly acquired frying pan. That doesn't work here and the Gargoyle explains why. A new solution for the problem is required."

and the thread about the game being censored even more: http://www.ga-forum.com/showthread.php?t=43887&highlight=twat

Is that a problem with the hardware or the developer? The other question is if a year's technology would yield a bigger increase in terms of power for the new Xbox. I guess we'll have to see what they've done with their new system to answer that question.
