New CyberConnect2 RPG (unannounced?)

They've been running ads in Famitsu hiring for it for a while, but no info.

ferricide and I decided that "Project GU" is a pun for "Project Jiyuu," or freedom. Hopefully a move away from the standard Japanese RPG rubric!

Before anyone asks no it has nothing to do with "dot hack" as the project is (sadly) over and done with save for a couple more novels.

Oooh, so it might actually be a large undertaking! Cool!

Hah! That's.... an interesting take on it. Anyway I loved Tail Concerto and Silent Bomber, so definitely looking forward to whatever this is. :D

CyberConnect2 Announces New RPG Project
06.07.04 - 12:07 PM

Fukuoka-based developer CyberConnect2 has announced a new RPG project, so far only known as Project GU on its official website. Apart from some pieces of artwork, the company has not released any information on the game, not even its target platform.

CyberConnect2 is best known as the developer behind Bandai's popular .hack series of RPGs.

Been about ten months since that announcement, so hopefully we'll hear more about it soon...

Fuck RPGs, where's my Tail Concerto 2? :(

They talked about this on their site before. They said they would love to do Tail Concerto 2 and have ideas/concepts for it. The problem being that it doesn't seem to be working out on the business end of things and they told fans that they'll try their best to do it one day and to keep supporting them, etc.

Still, I agree, more Tail Concerto = YES PLEASE! :D

yes, duckroll is right. i actually talked to hiroshi matsuyama (pres. of CC2) and daisuke uchiyama (bandai producer) and basically it boils down to the fact that TC was TEH BOMB and bandai won't let them make another sequel. the first time i met them, .hack hadn't come out in japan yet, and basically CC2 was on its last chance with bandai -- silent bomber, as much as i love it, was also a giant bomb. good thing for CC2 that .hack did so well internationally.

i was actually expecting to see this game at TGS last year and went to the bandai booth specifically to look for it. =\ i'm definitely curious.

I'll take a Tail Concerto RPG utilizing the .hack engine.

Seconded!!

I dunno, PS2's just missing something with MegaMan Legends and Tail Concerto being no-shows this gen. I'm still interested to see what Project GU looks like though.

honstly, i think i would like to see the .hack engine abandoned. it's not that graphically good, and i'm totally sick of the gameplay. i played that thing for, what, 100 hrs or something? yeesh.
