Carl Franklin is actually a great director, or at least he was rather some time ago.

the guy should have got more at bats before he got ground up into the studio system. One False Move/Devil in a Blue Dress are dang near classic.

I agree with Campea about the studio wanting to see Singleton sticking with it because he has directed Tupac in the past and knows the man in some fashion. I hope it does end up being great and faithful in the end.
