Damn, meteos looks awesome!

I feel ashamed for never checking it out...

oh yea... Egg Monster Heroe me, get, +1 sale, etc., etc., etc.

Yeah its the same company. But different directors.

This ones director is Masahiro Sakurai of the SSBM and Kirby fame.

Meteos looked like crap when Lumines was first revealed. Now it looks gorgeous and tons of fun I may have to check it out. Egg Monster looks highly entertaining also I diddn't know it had a Dragon Warrior type thing goin on.

Yeah, it's really been a total turn around.

Egg Monster Heroes doesn't need to be released. It needs to be destroyed.

Looks like total garbage. It amazes me what some of those old-school Square guys get away with making these days... (Kawazu, the Hanjuku dude, etc.)

What looks so bad about it? Just curious... I'd assume that you'd know better than I would, after all.

So wait, tell us what you know. I mean how bad could they have made it?

Man, Meteos looks really good. I played a demo of it at Tsutaya earlier this week and wondered if I was high or something, but no! they really did TOTALLY REDO IT since the Touch!DS festival. The playing field is like ... half the size of what it was before, which is good because before the pieces were waaay too tiny and hard to drag around. Looking forward to it!

I agree with koiku, spill it john. I mean how the heck can you you fuck a pokemon clone? Even the worst I played werent that bad.

Hmm. Meteos looks intriguing.

Did I read somewhere that the company that's doing Meteos was the one that did Lumines?
Correct. Masahiro Sakurai, the fine chap who created Kirby, is actually the one that came up with the concept behind Meteos.

No, Mizuguchi was the one that came up with the idea, but Sakurai took it to a whole new level. In typical Sakurai style, it seems like he is adding more and more options and little tweaks here and there to the game.

That concept, I told it to [Sakurai-san], and he took further with the touch pen. [Connecting the blocks and shooting them in the air]. The launch, kinda like a space shuttle. I heard that concept and [thought] “Wow. That is new. Simple, but new.” So we got very excited, [and said] “Let’s make the prototype.” When we were done and finished [with] the prototype, [it] was so fun.

What's to spill? It looks like puke, for starters. There are better-looking games on the NES for crying out loud. The look kinda reminds me of Robotrek, which was already horribly outdated and ugly 11 years ago. And everyone who played it at Touch DS walked away with a look of "WTF" on their faces. It just doesn't look fun at all to me. And it's not a Pokemon clone.

jesus. Reactive JTV. :O I actually wanted to say... its hard to be excited about Meteos from those screens. Puzzlers just ain't the same as stills.

As for egg monster. Before I scrolled all the way down. I actually thought it looked pretty good and this is from someone who grew up on J-SNES titles. A tad generic looking (almost 90's looking sprites) but the battle screen / touch with all the characters looks interesting.

Haha, I love the Hanjuku art, so I guess I'll just see how it plays myself.

how do you connect the blocks together like tetris attack or is there more freedom??
Still not understand the real concept...

You have to get three blocks of the same color/shape to line up either vertically or horizontally, then that'll cause them to ignite and shoot up. You can do this by dragging the blocks around, you don't actually control the falling blocks. Unless I'm mistaken.

Meteos looks great, and it's one of those games that gameplay with the touchscreen is rewarding, I hope it comes out soon. Hopefully the USA/PAL release will be shortly after the JAP version, I doubt there's much to be translated in the game.

ok but i can understand that there is a system of dragging the blocks...can you only drag them 1 place to left or right?? or is there total freedom??

Meteos goes gold (not sure if this is old news, so I'm bumping this thread instead of making a new one)

http://www.gamespot.com/news/2005/02/22/news_6119002.html

TOKYO--Meteos for the Nintendo DS has gone gold, the game's developer said this week. The company confirmed its plan to release the game in Japan on March 10--after a previously announced delay. Designed by Space Channel 5's Tetsuya Mizuguchi and Kirby's Masahiro Sakurai, Meteos challenges players to destroy descending blocks, bits of meteor, before they fill the screen.

They're trying to get away with making software that doesn't follow current market trends? How dare they! The survival of the free world depends on all game developers marching in lockstep!

No. Don't defend this shitty looking game. It has NOTHING to do with bucking trends. It has to do with LOOKING LIKE ASS and completely unoriginal.
